Before posting this reply I did a thread search for "2012" and read every post it found ... apparently no one else has asked about doing the following.

2012 GS Sky
Original fitment
Wheels - 16x6.5
Tires - 205/55/16
stock suspension (no plans to lower)

I would like buy some new rims to make use of some old Eagle F1 tires that I have in storage ... 225/50/16 ... was running them on my '85 Firebird with 16x8 rims a few years back.

I have found these (http://www.tdotperformance.ca/konig-ro6s51440s-roller-16x7-5-5x114-3-et40-silver-machine-face-rims-b.html) which as far as I can tell are the only 16x7.5 rims available in Canada. Luckily I like them, but is the 40 offset going to be an issue?
My wife will not tolerate clearance issues, this is her daily driver.

If anyone has access to other 16x7.5 options I would love to see them.

According to my limited research thus far, Mazda does not recommended exceeding 7.5" width on the rim (I have a lifetime warranty on the powertrain and don't want to give them any excuses) Should I be worried in that regard?

Any thoughts / suggestions appreciated

Dan

You will be fine for clearance, from another thread I read you can do...
7.5 with a 25mm offset
8" with a 35mm offset
8.5" with a 38mm offset
9.5 with a 42mm offset
They claim these won't poke, and but you will be flush, so anything with a smaller offset, (higher number) you should be fine. The stock offset is somewhere around 50 I believe, you can enter your specs on willitfit.ca and it will tell you how much further your wheels will poke or not poke.

Is 20x8.5 rims too much for a Gen2 Mazdaspeed3 ?

Tires: 225/35.

I currently have Bilstein B14 Coilover.

Thanks for the reply, this search was temporarily suspended but I am back on the hunt. I did some more research with that 225/50/16 tire size and can definitely put them on 7" wide rims which REALLY helps with choice. Now I just need to make sure I get the right offset to keep them from rubbing.
I don't suppose that other thread mentioned the recommended offset with a 7"?

Went with VOSSEN CV3 19"x8.5 with a 32mm OFFSET + Tires 225/35R19.

Rear tires are rubbing on the fender though.

Are your fenders rolled? Looks like the back is flush if not just poking slightly

Looking to get winter tires used, found a set of 4 at a really reasonable price but they're slightly off from the recommended size. I need a 205/55r16 while these are 205/60r16. Will they still work on a Mazda3?

Hey guys,

How would a 225/40/18 with a +25 Offset fit on a 2012 Hatchback? Also planning to be lowered on Eibach Pro-kits (1.2" drop).

Thanks!

That is a very aggresive offset. Wil need fender roll for sure, possibly a fender pull and camber to fit.

Hey guys i was wondering if some of you wheel experts could help me out.
Im looking at buying some cosmis racing wheels for my gen 1 speed with a 18x9.5+10 offset from what ive seen the wheels should clear no problem.
Im just not sure that with my tire set up if i will run into rubbing issues. I have a set of 235/40/18 tires right now. any advice?

That's a fairly aggressive setup. With no lowering or camber, you will have a lot of poke, and may rub on big bumps, etc. Even if you do plan on lowering, you'd need a fair amount of camber to get the wheels to fit properly. I'd also suggest a different tire size as those will be quite beefy.

+35 is better. What width is the wheel 18*8 ? 18*8.5 ? 18*9 ?

it's going to be tight, but might fit without rolling fenders.

+10 offset and 9.5" wide wheel, that is going to be very difficult to fit. To give you an idea on a 2nd gen MS3 which has better clearance that the first gen, I run 18*8.5 +42, with 245/40/18 lowered slightly on Swift Spec R springs, and it just fits without rubbing.

I ran a square setup 18x9.5 +22 with 265 tires and required flares on a gen 1 MS3.

215-45-18, 225-40-18 or 235-40-18 on 18" Rims? Won't one cause speedometer issues?

The 235 40 18 is closer than the 225 40 18 but still slightly smaller than 215 45 18. Assuming wheels are the same for all sizes.

Hey guys, need some advice on fitment... I'm considering getting R255/35R18 tires in the back and 18" wheels to go with them... Will they fit on 2010 Mazda3 2.5L GT Hatchback? Thanks.

With the proper offset and wheel width they should fit. You're likely to need a fender roll though.

https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/

Use this to put in the stock setting and then put in whatever you're expecting, and you can see how much more you'll be past the stock setup, and then how much more inboard you'll be. Make sure you're not too much more inside (to avoid hitting the shock) and depending how much out you go, you'll need to look at a fender roll (I needed it even just with 8.5" wide wheel with a 225 tire on the gen 1).

Figure out your sizing, then go do some measuring.

Great website, thanks for the help. Yeah, they should fit with spacers. Compared to my current setup (225/45R17 ET45), I would have to use 10mm spacers (minimum) for inside clearance. They stick out 17mm beyond my current setup, so combined with the 10mm spacers, they would stick out 27mm. Should be fine because I run 25mm spacers right now and have encountered slight rubbing on bumps/potholes. So it should be a similar situation. Ideally might need a fender roll down the road.

Anyone running 215/40 on 18x8?

I was running a 225/40 last summer with a +35 offset and would rub at the rears on big dips, and even on slight dips when loaded with at least 2 in the back.

I’m wondering if 215/40 would be better. Looking for a new set this coming summer.

I was considering getting the Niche Sector M197 wheel. It's 19X8.5, +35 offset. Currently lowered on Eibach pro kits. Probably with 225/40/r19 tires. Will this fit? Not sure if a 235/35 would work as well
