WELL while we're on the topic.....
Apartment - not appartment
Lose (as in "you're going to lose") - not Loose
A lot - not alot
and for speech,
"Lib-R-ary", not "lie-berry"
"Chi-P-munk, not "chick-munk"
And the usual. There, their, they're... your, you're, etc. :blah

I definately (:)) spelll this word wrong on a fairly consistent basis. Just one of those words.
However, many posts on this site are completely illiterate in terms of spelling, punctuation and other useage of grammar. Of all these things, we're concerned with the spelling of this word? I'm happy most people can get a close enough approximation to it and don't use defffff's or defately instead.

Also on the topic...
We're and were are completely different!
And 's mean to have possession of something not plural of something.
It's not "Can I go to the bathroom?" If you have the ability to go to the bathroom then you can, if you don't have the ability, then you can't. It's "MAY I go to the bathroom."
Definitely get annoyed when people do not spell this correctly. Hahaha. PS Steely I remember teachers saying that about the bathroom question all the time!

See... another thing with English... people call washrooms "bathrooms" all the time... even when you can't take a bath in there, what's with that?

People don't really "wash" in there either, except for your hands... should it be called a "handwashroom" then, Mister Technical? :chuckle I think just "the shitter" works perfect :P

u maen u dont liek wen ppl spel liek these?
But yes, totally agree. And at the risk of sounding old, I find it's the younger people that do it more often. I've thought for awhile that as the internet/cell phones/quick updates grows, the general ability to spell/use proper words shrinks and the reliance on spell check grows to where we can't seem to think for ourselves anymore. It confuses me. I always (even on Twitter/text messages) use full words and proper spelling as I hate writing the short form even more than I hate having to read it.

+1! Maybe it should be called "The room with the toilet and sink" since you do more than just wash your hands...
Technically also the same as "restroom". I wouldn't call doing that "resting". Such is language though. Sometimes it isn't the most logical but as long as people understand it, that's all that matters.
EDIT: MB, does that mean you'll become like this guy? :chuckle

But at least you have the ability to WASH in there. You can't bathe, but you can wash.
The 2 best though: Toilet and Restroom.

I DEFINITELY hate the word toilet. Sounds dutty. I wish I was French cuz "toilette" sounds so much more elegant.

PS. youve never worked at a truck stop where certain ppl think sinks are showers and washers.
so bathing in a washroom is possible and some do it

No... Gab, still technically not bathing.
The definition of bath is to submerge in water or wash in water.
They weren't IN water... they're using it, they're not IN it.

Here, it's colour but in the states, it's color. Both are acceptable depending how you were brought up. I have to deal with both as programming is usually the American way but I always use the Canadian way.
