I know this has probably been really over discussed but I came across this on ebay and had never seen it before, would it work?

yes if you cut the panic button off.. there is a million and a half threads on it.. and i dont think mazda could have made it harder for us to change keys if they wanted lol..

Has anyone bought one of these? I'm really considering it since my car only came with one set of keys :rant

Im going to buy one tonight when i get home. For 17 bucks i might as well give it a shot. Considering my US car cannot get a flip key to work here in Canada :( Also i never use the Panic Button so i dont care if i lose it.
I will post up when i get it working.

Yeah there is a big write up about it on M3F, you have to actually take the RFID chip out of the key portion and place it in the new flipkey.
Ill give it a go, Does not seem that hard but will see lol.

Might go get a spare key and program it just in case, and then try this myself. Looking forward to the write-up.

I am currently using one of those, I had to get a cheap replacement key with the transponder chip from deal extreme. took the chip out and stuck it inside. its really easy to do, works nicely.

here is the link to the replacement key I got, believe its a lot cheaper than the dealership. oh and btw you need 2 already programmed keys to program the new ones.

One question, Migeta. Have you come across a switchblade with the third button for the OEM remote start? I could totally live without my panic button, but my remote start has become a must have. If not, I could use the as my spring/summer/autumn key (which here in Calgary is all of 2 months, lol).

no I havent' actually. the flip key on your link is a direct install from your mazda 3 remote. you just just open ur remote up and put the control circuit board or w.e. into the flip casing. You dont even need to cut off the panic button.

look around on ebay, I believe there are ones with the 3rd button for the panic button but probably not for remote start.
Any update on this ST3ALTH?

I just bought one for my speed3 which only came with one. Got it thru ebay, was 50$ shipped for the 3 button one.
I found the best way to find a good cheap replacement is put in your fcc id ________ and visteon ______ and google that and open every link til you find the best deal. Worked for me at least :)
