hey guys
lately whenever i put the AC or heater on i hear a ticking noise, it sounds like the same noise as a card in bicycle spoke, not sure if its a piece of tape or something hitting the fan, is it bad to still run it? and is it hard to get to the blower fan?
i tried searching but maybe not hard enough
thanks

Could be some sort of leaf that is caught near the cabin air filter. Used to happen to my Dad's truck quite a bit..

From what I've read it's quite a bit of work to get to the cabin filter but I'll check that out on the weekend, hopefully that's all it is

i get a noise sort of like this. seems to happen when its raining or damp out though. ive had it for a while now. and every time i hear it. by the time i pull over to find out what it is, its not making the noise anymore.

I don't think its a leaf...my car makes the same noise since I bought it...I assumed that is the way its suppose to be...

Hi there,
Sorry to bring up an old thread!
I have been having the same issue with my Mazda as well. I find the ticking noise is on an interval basis, the faster you drive, the short the time period is in-between ticks. Sometimes it is as short at 20 seconds, other times it is along as 50 seconds between ticks. When I pull over as well, or sitting at idle with AC on, there is no ticking.
From what I have read on other forms and talking to people, they have suggested that it is the motor that closes the air damper/flapper.
Has anyone had any luck determining where the ticking is coming from?
Thanks
