Update.

Turned out the Blu Ray Laser was pooched in my PS3 and needed to be replaced. My PS3 is a gen2 non-slim 80GB model. In speaking with the tech, the gen1's and gen3's have inferior Blu-ray lasers that wear our prematurely, but the gen2's are pretty solid. I use my PS3 a fair bit for games and movies, so 4 years of heavy use is pretty decent.

Anyway, I ended up taking it somewhere different than I originally noted. Cost me $100.00 cash and was done in a little less than 2 hours. System works as it should now.

Took it to Gametecs at 1179 Finch Avenue West, Unit#20. For any other members who may need service or will in the future...

I've actually used Gametecs myself for my 60GB PS3. YLOD was the issue. Can't complain about either the service or the price, though the problem did rear its head again. Fortunately, still within the 3 month repair warranty. I've since replaced it with a slim.

I've also known a few folks had xbox360 repairs done at Gamerama. If I recall correctly, the price is around 59.99..
