Yesterday I switched from snows to summers on my 2010 Mazda 3GT.
Last fall I got my hands on a new set of 18" 2010 Mazda Speed 3 wheels.

I checked the sides on the tires for the right pressure specs, but I'm not convinced.

What should the proper tire pressure be for 225/40-18 tires ?

32PSI +/- a few PSi for your driving preference.

Specs are always listed in the manual or door plaque for specs on that specific vehicle. Max PSI on the tire does not mean you should ever run it that high

I think 2010 GX says 35 PSI on the door plaque.

I usually have it closer to 38... but that said also adds a bit of extra bounce to the ride along with extra stiffness.

As I mentioned before, my car is a 2010 Mazda3GT which comes with 205-50-17 tires.
The summer wheels I have on belong to the Mazda Speed 3.which are 225/40-18 .
That's why I was inquiring. I cannot get that information from the door plaque on my car.

Any owners of Mazda Speed 3 please ?

from a pinto to a hummer it is normally understood that 32psi is the standard, some cars range from 26 or 28 up to 35 psi. but if you plan to check ur tire pressure every week or two then maybe a speed3 owner should answer.

p.s. how much horse power are u adding with the speed 3 rims?

My GX reads 32psi - I usually keep mine at 34-35psi

Thanks Everyone.

Just a small note to 'blackm3'

If I wanted the extra horsepower I would have gone for the whole 'Speed 3' car, no problem.
I tested it and yes there is a lot of juice there! But this is where I drew the line .

Those wheels make the car a lot more stable on the road and I was surprised the ride is not that harsh either.

Like most of the Mazda guys here, I am very particular about how my car looks..
And yes, my car has the looks, dude!... lol

How would you go about tweaking the ride quality?? Something like, higher pressure better ride quality or lower pressure, poor ride quality, just something like that...??

2010 Mazdaspeed tire pressures are 35 Front and 34 Rear as listed on the door and in the Owners Manual.

I was just having a lil fun with u, thats all, from my understanding, the weight of the car is what you should be concern with and not if the rims are from another car, plus you have to take into account for the difference in suspension set up, so the speed3 might say 35psi, but that might not make 35psi ideal for your 3

Hey, I know you where just shooting the breeze, dude !
That's what we do here for fun.
I lowered my car on Pro Kit springs. It feels a bit stiffer now and that is O.K. by me.

Every little bit helps .

Anyway, enjoy the weekend guys.

Charlie.

Fro me with the 18" wheels I would run the fronts a little higher into the 33-34 range and keep the rears at 32.

2010- Mazda3 gx 16" wheels are 35 psi cold. I would not recommend 38psi cold.. The 17" tires run at 32psi, but I run them around the 33 mark right now until the ambient temps come up a bit more.

With the 18" tires I would run closer to 34psi in the fronts and keep the rears at 32.

Your model year recommends 32psi in the fronts and rears. I'd run 34 all around, but that is a personal preference.
