Now I am sure this has been covered before, but I haven't found quite what I am looking for. I want to add an intake, 99% sure SRI, and I am wondering if any of you guys can help me decide which one.
Does anyone have dyno data to show actual performance gains from intakes? I would rather go by that than manufacturers' promises.
Also which ones do you guys like for sound, value, etc.
Thanks!

Im running Simota CB-II SRI....sounds amazing..And i can tell the difference on the HP gain..since its an SRI..the throtle response is faster
As for the HP gain...different intakes varies...some people just go for the sound...

Not an option for the speed
what do you mean then?..keep the stock intake?..because i was wondering if you would need a tune after an intake for turbo charged cars

Lol. The intake buddy listed is not an option for the speed, is what he meant.

I'd say the COBB SF is the most proven SRI for the MS3 application. Validated by many, many MS3's as an approximate gain of + 11 HP and + 16 lb. ft. Dyno sheet attached.

Here is a link to the K&N dyno chart. Personally, I think this chart is bollocks, as K&N has been over-estimating and fudging gains on dyno charts for years. They can't be the only ones that can pull these numbers with what is essentially the same SRI as everyone else, but that is the difference marketing magic can make. You can make your own conclusions.

I just put a cp-e CAI in mine and would HIGHLY recommend it...yes SRI is cheaper and like a 0.000000000001% less chance of hydro lock (you'd have to be an idiot seriously to drive through water deep enough to even get CAI completely submerged) but the CAI shows great dyno gains (see cp-e's site) and I love the sound, the quality of the part, the install was just as easy...just everything about it is great.

if you can find a used one, a Mazdaspeed intake in SRI mode isn't a bad option.
my datalog graphs showing Mass Airflow in g/s and dyno graphs are on this site.

you need the air straightener for the AEM cai on the speed3....it is a separate part that was released after people found out "aem intakes are not good for the speed".
if it has one, there is nothing wrong with it. if it doesn't, you'll need to get one.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but can you convert a regular MS3 CAI into short ram? I found a used one for sale and was just wondering how to convert it. Is it just removing the longer pipe and use only the short piece where the MAF is?

that's correct, just don't install the longer pipe
