HELP!! Replacement of lighter unit??

Hey all,

I could really use some help! Last summer my fiance got a little inpatient and instead of taking our ipod dock slowly out of the lighter socket he pretty much ripped it out while turning visiously :p, breaking a bunch of little plasic pieces inside. It no longer works at all, I know its not the fuse as it was working fine right up to that point. What I would like to know is if it is possibloe to replace the entire unit? I have been looking and can only seem to find the actually lighter part which I still have and is fine.... Please help!! i would love to be able to charge my phone, gps etc again!!

If you can't find it on ebay just go to http://www.standardautowreckers.com/ give them a call and see if they have one in the junk yard. If they say yes make sure you bring some tools to take it out. I got many parts from there for my old car.

You are referring to the you pick yard. the 3's are still to new to be in the yard. Yes they (standard) are one of the pricier ones as well.
are you looking for the entire center peice oronly the lighter peice? I may be able to help you out

Check the fuse anyways. If you haven't already. Otherwise you can find them at Canadian tire. I saw one last week cause my lighter doesnt work anymore. Was looking for a replacement. they run about $20

I haven't checked the fuse yet but I will this weekend. I do know for sure the inside of the socket is damaged as a few small black plastic pieces came out when the ipod dock was being taken out, also it was kinda twisted out instead of pulled so I think thats what did it. The dash and all is fine its just I guess the round socket that needs to be replaced and I have no idea what is called making it a bit hard to find haha.

Honestly there shouldnt be much in the way of plastic inside that so is it possible the plastic came from the dock?

just make sure you get the one for your year and make, different cars have different outlets.

Yea at first I thought it might be from the dock but the little plastic pieces were black and the dock white so I knew it couldnt have been that. Im thinking its from the pieces that kinda hold or click the device or lighter in place.

replacing the lighter unit? not as far as i remember, just the cup holders shifter trim and then 2 screws and out pops the unit

my bad... I was thinking about the airbag light/seat heater trim
still a pain to get that thing out though...
