View Full Version : Rust Warranty: Which Dealer Service would you recommend I take my car to fix rust?
Hey guys
Just looking for some feedback from people who have had rust repaired under warrenty before. I found some in my wheel well and I'd like to have it fixed properly before it gets worse.
I've been reading the corrosion thread and it seems like alot of the dealer shops are doing a minimal amount of work that doesn't fix the problem.
Does anyone have feedback on shops that they were happy with the service and repair done?
Thanks a lot

If its at the wheel well, from what I have heard, they usually just sand it down and paint over. If the issue comes back, they will cut out the wheel well and weld in a new piece.
Thats what the body shop told me about what mazda has been approving at their shop.

I don't know where you're located, but Forbes Mazda in Waterloo has been good to me. They work for all the Forbes dealerships is done at their large body shop located at their GM dealership. The rust they fixed a year ago has no signs of returning yet.

if cut and weld is the only way to permenantly fix it, i'd prefer to go this route right away. From reading the rust thread, it seems that the rust ALWAYS came back when it was a repaint. Since I have MAP I'd have the rental covered so it's better for me to get everything done properly right away and it'd be nice to know a dealer willing to step up and do it

I'm in the GTA, so Forbes is unfortunately too far. Thanks for the feedback though, I hope Waterloo members read this

It might not be the dealer that will step up and do it.
I spoke to the bodyshop that looked at my rust issue and they said Mazda Canada usually only approves sanding and painting the first time around. If it comes back, than they approve the cut and weld.
The body shop said they tried to get cut and weld the first time, but mazda canada usually does not approve unless the wheel well is rotted away.

It's not so much the dealer it's what Mazda approves.

=/ that sucks
well i guess it depends on the body shop then, if they do a good job the first time around
planning to drop by Markham Mazda today just to see what they say....this will be interesting since they just recently became affiliated with TM3 and have a lot to prove based on their past track record....

I fixed mine at QEW Mazda....John Boot set this up for me, I didn't even go to the dealership, I go direct to their body shop that they told me to go, saved a trip. Got a car rental for the week that the car is in the shop. (Which Ontario Mazda refuse to provided that to me, they want me to take bus to work for 1 week??}

Orangeville Mazda is very helpful! They changed Management last year due to a massive Lawsuit on overcharging. They will do anything to get business back to normal. I have been in and had estimates done. Now i'm just waiting to hear from Mazda Canada for approval. Im at day 7 now and haven't heard anything. I will keep you guys posted.

You can't go wrong with giving QEW Mazda a chance.
