View Full Version : DAMN YELLOW LIGHT HERE TOO!
I took my Mazda in to the dealership today to swap out some filters and they told me that the little yellow light being on necessitates a "engine management system test" for $114.95 to figure out what the problem is.
Is this really what I need to do? If so where can I get it done cheaper?

Such a waste of money. Find out whats wrong from Jimmy @ SP, or anything with an OBD reader.

OP already declared he will never go back to StreetPerformance in the Review thread, so he might have burnt that bridge.
OP: Its $115 from MoT but you don't have to wait two hours for the service. :)

Ah gotcha. There's plenty of members who have a OBD that will be more than happy to tell you what's wrong for free. See cyberscorpi0 above :)

I just PMd cyberscorpi0, thanx man!
As for SP...I was their biggest fan until today! Can't believe Mazda would charge $115 for something that takes just a couple minutes. I thought Canadian Tire was the place you go to get ripped off at!

when you're older and have a child that is only a month old, you will understand that there are emergency situations where you have to drop what your doing and tend to your family.

That's understandable but I was offered no explanation or notice, just left to wait and wait.

that's when you call jimmy at a later time and tell him that you went somewhere else, jimmy would understand; rather than posting a diatribe about SP and burning bridges.
I had an 11AM appointment today at Street Performance to get a couple filters swapped. I was made to wait an HOUR only to be told that it would take another hour to actually get the job done! This despite my 11AM appointment booked 2 weeks in advance with Jimmy. (Jimmy wasn't even there!). I brought my car to Street Performance after a major accident and gave them about $5000 in business for that alone. After that I brought it in for my 96K service. So they know me over there and I was until today happy with their service.
Today however they just wasted my time, this is no way to treat a customer.
I ended up taking the car to Mazda of Toronto where they were able to do the job in under 30 minutes and only for $7 more than what SP quoted me.
I will not be going back to Street Performance!!

Or just call him right then and there and just ask where he is and if he'll be back soon. You never know, maybe he had to leave shortly after he got there in the morning, and is on his way back at that point.

If you just need to get it read, go to a part source. They can read it, look it up on their computer and tell you what it means, and then clear it if you want it cleared.
