Hello there.

I've been wanting to get different color fogs for a while now. I personally do not like yellows so I was looking for something to match my 6000k HIDs up in the headlights.

I've recently found a pair of LEDs that suprisingly fit perfectly for my licence plate lights.

So that gave me an idea, intsead of going through trouble of installing the whole fog HID kit, why can't I just put in some plug and play LED bulbs in my fogs? I just want whitish-bluish colour anyways.

So after spending an hour in "The Marketplace","Lighting" and other sections I still have some questions:

1) H11 is the right bulb for my 2005 GT hatch - is that right? Beacause I have been reading that people use different bulbs, something like 9002 or 9003...

2) Are there any local shops that could sell LED kit for my fogs ( Scarborough, Richmondhill, markham...anything within 30 min drive from North York.) I would quite prefer to drive up and buy them then order online...
And who sells such LEDs anyways, I have trouble finidng vendors who sell that kind of L.E.Ds for my car...

3) What is average price for such kit? The only thing I could find is this -
http://www.corksport.com/corksport-led-drl-kit-h11.html

But a) I am not sure it is right for my car
b) Is it really what they are worth...

And final question

4) Is it really that simple as with my licence plate bulbs where I just plugged them in and I have white color?

Thank you very much! I am looking forward for your answers.

I'm sort of in the same boat.
I want to do something with my fogs. I've had them as my DRL's for a very long time, and just recently they stopped working as DRL's for some reason. I resorted back to full stock and they are fine.
If you want a basic bulb that will match decently I have used Hoen fog bulbs in the past. They matched my then 5000k HID quite well at the time. They we're as pure with as my HID's but close enough, and much better than a stock bulb.

The thing is cost really.... Hoen's would probably run in the 50ish range now, after shipping. The corksports seem to look nice, but at $49 a bulb.... its getting into HID territory. A bit more work and a bit more money, but you would have a perfect match and greater light output.

I personally am leaning toward the HID route for my setup, as I do want the perfect match and increase light output. Aside from that... I figure it SHOULD last longer than going the bulb method. Changing the bulbs even once would already be on par with HID Cost.

Please do NOT put HIDs in your reflector based fog housings. It may seem uber kewl at first, but the drivers you'll blind with the glare will be uber pissed. HIDs need projector based housings. If I ever get any time (and spare broken fogs) I want to chop them and attach my old VW fog projectors some how. if they test well, then HID.

6k HID from sp3GT, with Luks metal whites in the fogs.

True.

But fogs are really low and aimed downward to begin with. So putting HID's there shouldn't pose much of a problem to other drivers.

Also people that removed the reflector in the fog housing increases the glare too...:loco

1: the very first thread in this section has all the bulb sizes
2: Google-> LED H11 bulbs toronto (About 10,200 results (0.22 seconds)) = www.lightdepot.ca/product_info.php?products_id=164
3a: yes the CorkSport link is the correct H11 size
3b: only you can decide if they perform to the price you pay for them
4: yes
