Hey guys,
Started off with 5000K Prolumen HIDs in 2007-2008. They have worked great until now.
However, my ballast died and I went to Kelvin (sp3GT) who sold me a new ballast and helped me get everything working again.
However, I do have an issue now guys. I notice that my passenger HID (with the new ballast) has looks much brighter than the drivers one. Kelvin mentioned that the metal rod that runs along the length of the bulb on my bulb was slightly bent, could this be the cause?
Second, while he assured me that they both were the same voltage ballasts, I assume there's a possibility that one is more brighter htan the other??
So here's a pic of what my HIDs look like on the road (picture taken by my girlfriend, I didn't take a picture while driving don't worry, LOL).
Kelvin said they seemed relatively well aimed from before he saw the car, and we never changed anything in terms of aiming.
Thanks guys!

Not an expert, but i would try changing the bulb's with new ones to see if you can replicate the color difference.
Could also be over time, maybe the prolumen ballast isn't giving the same output as it use to?
Keep us posted either way

I should have mentioned, yes , definitely a choice to swap bulbs just seems a waste to have to switch out my whole kit when it was just one bulb not working. I guess what I'm trying to narrow down is do people thinik its the ballast or the bulb?

I would swap the bulbs around see what happens when you swap them, if the passenger side is not as bright as the driver then its the bulb.
If the driver side remains dull then its the ballast

That photo, it looks like the further distance is pretty much unlighted. Can you see well enough with those lights? Seems a bit dangerous on that road with no street lights.

Thats true.. I guess I can give that a try. I was just wondering if anyone had the theoritcal answer so I wouldn't have to go thorugh with that LOL.

The picture was really meant to show the difference between the bulbs (well the same bulbs, different ballasts), but it was afterall, from a camera phone so it doesn't show everything. mind you while its lit, obviously the distance is not as bright. Maybe re-aim? Are other people's HIDs brighter farther away?

Lol think you are out of luck, you need to physically change the bulbs. Changing them is such a B****

Haha I know man.. thats why I made this topic LOL. But to think about it.. I think its the ballast outputting differently.
Does the light to you guys look more concentrated or brighter too? Because I do rememeber with the Prolumen ballast before it died, I never had the probelm.

ballasts do not out put differently I have never seen that before. The way that picture looks, looks like you have not secured the bulbs properly. I remember this battyle from way back in the day when I got my first set of HID's

could this possibly just be due to how the lights are aimed? the passenger side is always aimed a step up from the driver side to keep you from blinding on coming traffic. or maybe its aimed too low on the driver side?
try facing a wall with your lights on at night, see how big the step is from the passenger to the driver side. take a picture while your at it

That's what it looks like to me. Take out the bulb and reinstall it.

x2, if the same, then swap sides. if the issue follows the bulb, you have your answer
