I don't know how many people have heard of Mike Burroughs, or his car known as Rusty, or if those who have care. Rusty started off as a nice black E28 BMW, got lowered, got some hot wheels, then lowered more, then killed, then resurrected, then more hot wheels, and then killed again (this time with fire). But Rusty Slammington just won't die (http://www.stanceworks.com/2011/05/kill-car/)......

I love following along with the story. I haven't met M.Bfurroughs, haven't even talked to him online, but the story of he and his car (whom he considers his best friend) is extremely compelling to me as a car guy. His post is worth a read.

But there’s something fortunate to come from all of this. I shared this event with my community, my family… I saw so many people express compassion and distress for what happened. I realized that they too lost a friend in this fire. It really went to heart. It was reassuring to know that Rusty wasn’t just my friend. Rusty was more than a car to more people than I had ever imagined. People seem to love him, almost as much as I do. The entire community came together and showed me something incredibly important.

So it’s time to dust off the ashes and start cutting, we’ve got f***ing work to do.

Is this the ratrod that was in the garage that burnt down not to long ago?

If he is rebuilding it AGAIN that is awesome! and pure dedication.

Yeah, this was the latest stage:

To the conspiracy theorists, who believe it was all a sham leading up to another rebuild, I say you can't hide/fabricate all the tools, wheels, and the specifically modified E28 shell that was burned and melted in that garage, at great financial cost to the owner, with no payoff other than internet friendship. Plus if you read the posts Mike wrote along the way, you can tell he is expressing his feelings from the heart.

I would be worried about metal fatigue after a fire. I guess is depends on how hot it got.
