hand brake

Just noticed today the hand brake is very loose and does not appear to engage. How much to replace/fix this?

can i fix myself?

I'm having a problem with the rear left brake. I dont know if its the handbrake is seized up against it, but there is a loud squeking noise from it, as well as a line that runs around the middle part of the rotor. I get a burning smell and i saw smoke coming from it as well.

Labour for it is expensive.. I got mine warranteed at QEW mazda!! :headbang i think it would have cost around $300 with labour
