i replaced my wheel bearings last year with a basic brand and now they are going bad again.
Other then buying them from Mazda, is there any other brand's or places you would recommend?

OEM, I've used Napa/partsource brands on the 04's and they bother have failed within a year, the 05+ are a better design

I used mazda and had to replace in 1.2 years. Doesn't seem much better to me.

.
I bought it from a Auto Parts dealer in Scarborough, remove the knuckles myself and took them to a shop and they pressed out the old ones and put in the new one.

First of all are you sure its the wheel bearing thats making the noise and not your tires??? and if its the bearing...
you see alot of the newer vehicles you have to replace the hub along with the bearing...and if you bought the bearing from just a whatever shop they might be carrying cheap quality parts.
there are many other factors, like how much did you torque the axle nut? and how many kilometres has it been since you replaced it?...you hit any potholes??
Bottomline don't feel so bad it happens all the time...good luck!
well the good news is that they were covered under warranty, bad news is that it's a lower end brand and the other mechanic i went to to press out the hub (i took out the knuckle myself) said it's a basic brand. Next time i'm probably going to spring for the better one

ive bought SKF and F-A-G brand bearings from partsource. They usually give you an option. Just look for made in us,canada, germany, france, italy etc.

Back when I was still under warranty I had two separate incidences of bearings being replaced.Replaced with Mazda OEM bearings.I have had no issues since then, and thats with over 100k.While replacing the failed bearings, I discussed the matter with several techs about the rash of bearing failures and we all came to the conclusion that Mazda may have had a large batch of bad bearings, which they inadvertently placed into the vehicles. Also it's not just the quality of the bearings used but how well and carefully they are installed.

installation is sooo important. Its a very finicky process and i would say if you are pressing them out yourself, ie with the rentable bearing tools from canadian tire, its a high difficulty task

Its quite simple.....you get what you pay for. I have used some pretty 'cheap' stuff over the years and they generally last about 13 months of 7 months (12 month and 6 month warranty's).
You really get what you pay for when it comes to bearings and breaks.

I only took out the steering knuckle. the mechanic pressed out the old one and pressed in the new one for $20 bucks without breaking the ABS sensor

So, my bearings are gone and need to be replaced, do you guys think OEM bearings are the best way to go? Also, I'm planing on having Street performance doing job.

PM sent. Having sold both aftermarket and OEM throughout my parts career the OEM stuff is the way to go.

I just replaced one of mine at 93,000 kms... Did another one at about 87,000. I had the work done at the dealership. Needless to say, I'm still bleeding.
