This is just my personal opinion. But non-OEM Audi LED strips look super duper gay. The reason is the OEM LED strips are jumbo LEDs and they are super bright! When you buy the aftermarket led strips, you can't see them in the day and against the bright headlights at night, you don't even notice them.
To answer your question. Yes you can tap into the signal wires on each side to make them blank along with your bulbs. You can also disable the signal bulb flashing (easy mod) so that only the LED strips blink.

the one i bought are led but they shine from the sides not the ones you usually see the top so it tucks right under the headlight and looks pretty decent. I will install and if i dont like take off its only 15 bucks so.

Now, that is tails, but this is just a demo of the concept. could be potential... heres what the same guy did for his fogs/DRLs:

I have yet to find flexible LED strips that are truly as bright as OEM LEDs, and trust me, I've been through a lot of them in both my tails and fog cutouts. Plus, eventually there is always one (or three) LEDs that burn out at some point, the only solution I found was to put a resistor on the power wire but this also hurts the light output.
I'm moving on to a different setup, something that is actually bright enough to be used as DRLs. Photos soon.
