I am looking for 5000k HIDs for my headlamps and regular 5000k bulbs for my fog lights. Anyone recommend a place to buy them from? Also what kind of bulbs should I get for my fog lights? What I'm looking to do is turn my fog lights into my DRL and have the headlamps controlled by the fog light switch. I know someone on here did that before. I am also looking for a place or person who can install and do the rewiring for me as I am not familiar with this sorda thing. Dont want mess up me car.

Thanks

Sorry to thread-jack, but I too have often wondered about the quality of these economy HID kits myself. I understand they come with a 1yr warranty, but even that seems inadequate for a vehicle I plan on keeping for 4-5+ yrs. Why is it that stock HIDS rarely seem to have problems, and definitely wont burn out or die in 1, 2, 3 or even 5 or more years. The headlights on my old car were over 10yrs old and I never once had an issue other than just replacing the bulb. I dont mind paying $300-400+ on something, as long as its going to work and stand the test of time. Are there "premium", OEM caliber HID kits that I can buy and not worry about them dying in 2yrs? any insight is greatly appreciated

^ We have OEM ballast kits from Hella/ Phillips. But no one is willing to shell out the money for them.

I've had 1 member so far buy them from me.

Impressive

Random HID kids will do you just fine, unless you're absolutely anal about the lighting coming from your car. If you install them properly, I highly doubt you'll have any problems. The OEM kit would be nice, but I think it's a slight waste of money. Just my $0.02

I bought an "economy" kit from Kelvin. everything's been fine, apparently one of my ballasts have started to go after just under a year (he's going to replace it for me under warranty) but with that said I have them setup as my DRLs. the other side I have not had any problems with thus far.

also for $85bucks, and a 1-year warranty it seems worth it to me.

even if the ballasts were to burnout just past the 1 year mark for 5years straight that still only works out to $425

of course that doesn't include the Labour of having to install the "new" HIDs, but even then if you've set yourself up properly to begin with, changing ballasts and the bulbs shouldn't be much of a hassle at all, just some wiggling and extra double sided tape

that's my take on it

^ Yup, by the way just to clarify all my kits come with 18 months warranty not just a year.

Generally if there is issue we meet up and I replace. That is what I'm doing with Jay.

meh 18 months is good...but who wants to (potentially) replace something on their cars every 1.5yrs just to save a few bucks? IMO any upgrade performed should be at least as good, if not better than OEM quality. Why cheap out on something as fundamental as lighting? I do a lot of driving and dont want my headlights shitting out on me in the middle of the night, hours from home. its unsafe and can get you a pricey ticket, or worse. Using cheaper ballasts for your fog HID is understandable, but they arent exactly crucial to seeing, or being seen at night.
I'll definitely be purchasing one of the Hella or Phillips ballasts when making the jump to HID. I'm confident that in the long run it will prove to have been money well spent.
