Hey everyone,

So lately i have noticed a lot of water leaking from underneath the dash on the passenger side. It gets the floor and mat really wet.

This only happens when the AC is on and now im noticing that if i turn all the air off in the car and have nothing running air wise... I get fog on the front window that only happens when i come to a stop and then goes away once i start to drive again.

Ive done a bit of research and it seems to be either blocked hoses to the heater core or its the actual heater core...

If anyone has had this problem or knows what it may be and how much to get fixed let me know.

Btw the water that leaks out is super HOT

Thanks

Did you check if your coolant level is going down? And what colour is the water? If it's clear, than is probably the drain hose from the A/C coil is plugged. Coolant will be brown or green. Not sure where the condenser sits vs. the heater coil, but could be condensate dripping on the heater coil. I think it accessible by removing the panel on the left side of the passenger's footwell.

if the coolant colour is anything but green, it is BAD and it is the reason why your heater core is leaking... bad coolant no longer protects metal parts in the system and it will corrode!

Green for all years? I thought there was a coolant switch at one point. I know the stuff that goes into my wife's car is reddish-brown.

Good find, that is exactly what it is. Heater core would leak at all times and stink.

it's green for ALL years from the factory... doesn't matter if it's the old stuff or the newer FL22... they both look the same
the replacement from mazda is piss yellow for the older style and dark green for FL22
if it's anything else, the coolant is either wrong or bad!
