Hey there guys/gals,

I just picked up a used 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 on Sunday, and along with all the paperwork from the previous owner was the letter from Mazda (Received early May 2011) about the smoking turbo issue.
(as seen here: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?53652-Heavy-White-Smoke-from-Exhaust-Tail-Pipe-Warranty-Extension-Program-(SSP84)&p=771129&highlight=smoking+turbo+replaced)

Now, even within the last day of driving I've had a couple experiences (one was really bad) of blue/white smoke coming from the tailpipes after sitting idle.

My main question is:

Has anyone dealt with Probart Mazda or Auto House Mazda service for this issue and had the ventilation kit installed and/or the turbo replaced? Anyone had issues with their service dept. and warranty issues?
Only reason I'm asking is I live 2 hours away from London AND Sarnia and kinda want to get the whole issue fixed the first time around rather then making multiple trips.

Thanks for any advice and input!
-Josh

I just got the vent kit and went through Probart Mazda. My turbo smoking wasn't bad, but wasn't getting better. I phoned to make an appointment for a service and mentioned the issue. I talked to Andrew (left service bay door when driving in) when I brought in the car and they ordered the parts for the vent kit, also inspecting the turbo during the process. It required the car to be brought back and left over night. Zero issues since and a big thumbs up for Probart.

Thank you so much for the reply! I do recall seeing you pop into the thread about the weekly London Crabby Joes meets (that I unfortunately never got to due to moving away from London) and was wondering if you may have had this done at Probart.

As far as everything I've read online, they just start with the vent kit and during install of that if they find turbo damage they replace it?

I don't have the smoking issues every time I idle, but the other day it sat for about 5mins idling, and when I took off it smoked like it was my Dad's old Chev pickup! I had a cloud following me to a couple blocks, wasn't pretty.

Did they end up going through all your service records (ie oil changes)? I just got the car, and all the oil change receipts seem to be there, I just don't want to get screwed because of one little thing, did they seem reasonable about getting this warranty work done?

Thanks

No worries!

As you said they start with the vent kit and if they find turbo damage they just replace it.

Mine didn't smoke all the time either, it was sparse and when it happened it billowed out.

I bought the car in August of last year and knew where the car was originally purchased. I phoned them and tried to get a history on the vehicle, but it was obvious the prior owner had it serviced somewhere else. I provided Probart with the limited information from the first dealership and all of my receipts (most were from Probart anyways). I'm blanking on the Service Manager's name (Kim?) but she was a great help through the process.

Thanks again, that's exactly what I wanted to hear.

I just got it smoking again tonight after a little drive then sit and idle, it was pretty bad, smelled the burning oil even before the smoke was coming out of the tailpipes.

Thanks again, you've been very helpful! I'll let ya know how it works out for me.

Well, so far so good. Dropped the car off Sat and spoke with Andrew (great guy to deal with) and just got the call today, new turbo and vent kit are on their way and getting installed this week.

So far nothing but very professional service and great place to deal with. We'll see how all the work goes though, hopefully no issues taking out the O2 sensors because if they break they're not too cheap, fingers crossed.

Glad they took care of you. Little jealous you get the new turbo too. Hopefully everything will continue to go smoothly!

To be honest with you I wasn't really expecting to get the whole shebang, I thought they'd do the vent kit and see if that solved the problem, but I guess they musta found the turbo seal to be really bad or something.

Also have to keep in mind my car's an 06 with around 106 xxx km's on it, so maybe they decided it was best to do it all 'cause of the age & km's.

Thanks again for all your helpful info, I'm glad I heard about your experience before I took the car there, it was a good piece of mind.
