Well I got hold of a minty fresh set of RX8 wheels and couldn't resist. The guy said they were only on for a few hundred kms before changing. Had them mounted today and I am digging the new look they give the car. The offset and extra width really make a difference with how the car sits.
Let me know what you think. Excuse the filthy car, it's been raining here almost daily.

Thanks for the compliments! I always underestimated these rims before, now I'm loving them.
The emblems were a little bit of a pain to take off the center caps. I used a jewlers flat tip screw driver to insert where the clips are at the back and gently pry the tabs. It worked, didn't break a singel one!

Favorite combo in any Mazda3 to date.....1st Gen CWP MS3 with Rx-8 Rims!
looks awesome!
best rims available when considering OEM and aftermarket for the gen 1 hatch. especially in CWP.
this combo is what i miss most about my 3!

Fixed. :huge smile
^^^^ Haha.. sorry bro.
Typo!
I was struck too much by nostalgia.
But yes. On gen 2 hatch = win win win.

I prefer the stock MS3 wheels over RX8 rms.....the RX8 wheels looks too alike to the MZ3 Sport GT rims which I had for winter.
but the black out center cap looks good

+1 prefer the stock gen 1 speed rims.. :) Maybe powder coat the RX8 rims with bronze or gold?? It'll give it a bit more flavour I think.
To OP, Nice car by the way!!

^^^ I used to think the exact same way about the similarities between the stock GT 17" & RX8 rims . But the difference in width and offset make such different impact on the car's stance. The RX8 wheels are quite a bit deeper looking and sit more towards the outside of the car. I have the stock 17" GT wheels painted in black for winter and they're not even close.
I did plan on powder coating them but not too sure now. It seems a shame as they're in almost new condition. Plus it's another $400 I don't know if I want to spend.

Best OEM rims for first gen MS3's. Like what you did with the the lower portion of your bumper.

I'm a big fan of OEM rims. These are the third set I've had on, beginning with the stock MS3 Shinkas to powder coated MS6s to these RX8s. I have to say I think I like these the best (although I wish they were in the Shinka finish) followed by the MS6 and then the MS3 wheels. The one thing I didn't like with the MS6 wheels was their offset. They sat very narrow.

Thanks! did that about a month ago for something different.

Yea, the MS6 wheels look great on 3s, but the offset on the RX8 wheels is more aggressive.

Are those 18's?? What size tire do you run with those?
Looking good! But I would black them out. CWP on black shoes look so nice IMHO .. or gunmetal, regardless the RX8 rims are sexy.
