Hey there, have been debating an issue regarding getting an alignment and I figured I would just get the public opinion:

Just had a (used) set of Prokits installed last saturday.
From what I have heard, I should wait a week to let them settle, then get an alignment.
Problem is that on thursday, I am heading up to northern michigan until the monday. No big deal other than that its about a 6 and a half hour drive.
Basically I am worried that 1) aligning them on Wednesday, they still may not have settled fully yet and I am not getting the proper specs that I should or
2) I wait and align them after I am back and risk a lot of ware to my tire during the 12+ hours of driving.

another option is to find somewhere to do them in the states when I am up there.

What are your thoughts? Get them done before, during or after?
Thanks in advance!

I think you should wait til you get back...the springs usually take longer than a week. I waited 2 weeks before my alignment.

But to each his own, others probably have better advice

When I had my last alignment I was chatting with pat at al tech and he recommends doing the alignment right away. He said the settling is so negligible that it really makes no difference

+1

The shop that lowered my first car included this in the price of new springs and shocks/struts and did it right after.

If everyone reads the thread it says they are used.
That being said you can go right away, they have already settled so technically they are ready to go

Matt, you have used springs so you don't need to wait a week or 2. The springs have already broken in from before.

But, if you ask me an alignment isn't really necessary for pro-kits.
I had H-techs on in the past and when I went for alignment, everything was pretty much within stock specs.

Hm alright thanks for the advice, ill try to get them done asap.
Yeah, some people have told me even not to worry about an align, but I noticed some wheel vibration once I hit 135 and up on the way home from getting them installed. That cant be a good sign haha.
But at this rate it looks like i'll be getting it done somewhere in the states....oh well hopefully its cheaper :P

Yep do the alignment before the trip. That many kms on the tires out of alignment will give you some bad wear.

Do alignment before u head out for your trip. :) Used springs should have already been settled like JayJay18 has mentioned.

do it right away... especially if the tires are expensive
