didnt really know where to put this but has anyone experienced problems with their air conditioning?
mine seems to be very..weak comparing to other cars.
i suspect i may have a leak or something.
if i do in fact have a leak how much does it cost to fix?

*weaker. Typically the 04-06 were so-so when it came to A/C power.

Mine (07) has actually been pretty good even in the hot days we have had.

It will cost at least $80-120 to do a leak test. Then you need to fix it if you have a leak which will cost a heck of a lot more.

How often do you activate your AC? I've found the more I use it the better it works.Last several days in this 35C temps, it's worked awesome. It also states in the owner's manual to activate the compressor each month thru-out the year for atleast 20 minutes each time. This will keep the compressor etc all oiled and the system free flowing.

I have an 05, to keep it cool I run the fan at "2" setting for like 5 mins to get the A/C cold and then full blast at "4" setting.

Do you guys have the circulation mode on or off?

One thing I noticed with my 07 is on a road trip, with circulation off, after 4 hours driving, the AC fan stop blowing air or felt like it. I had to stop it for period of time, before the fan started blowing again.

I didn't try keeping the circulation mode on.

Is this normal?

Your air conditioner is freezing up... Nothing you cam do about it... Just shut off the a/c and leave the fan on full Blast untill it unfreezes

damn i was thinking i could pop some freon in it and my problem would be fixed lol.
like mines okay if i put it in cabin circulation and blast it to at least on the 3rd setting but i wanted it colder.
guess thats not happening unless i replace the entire system huh?

No it doesn't happen to all cars... My brother explained to what was cause it to do it but I can't remember what it was as I was so hungover and only had 2 hours sleep coming back from niagra falls on Sunday ...

If I rememeber correctly Mazda didn't put some kinda switch that would prevent it from freezing

No issues with my 06. Used it a couple of times this year and works perfectly. Also helps that my car is parked in covered lots at work and park underground in my condo. Car isn't that warm since its not in the sun all day.

Well... my air conditioning works well enough. Not super frigid cold, but even with a dark car (Carbon Gray plus tints) the A/C keeps the temperature at a comfortable level.

Mine is ice cold as long as I'm moving. I've noticed that it blows a lot warmer if I'm sitting at a red light.

I had that happen with my integra. It turned out that my AC/rad fan wasnt working properly so my AC compressor would overheat a little while stopped at a red light. (idling)
Once the car moved, the ac got really cold.

My ac makes weird sounds. Something like a ticking noise when my car is just parked with AC on :(

haha no i dont drive with a winter coat on
but i would like my car to have the same a/c feel as a mall would LOL is that asking too much? :P
would low freon levels contribute to the cold factor of the a/c?

Get that A/C fixed before Thursday or your toast, literally. :P something like 38?

I only noticed the warmer air recently though. With the scorching heat its not a surprise though

Man I hate the AC, at least when there are other people in my car. I normally have my window open. Today I had my AC on with 3 guys who are around 200 pounds each, a girl whos like 90 and me (160) = about 850 lbs with AC turned on, on a hot day, my car bogged down so much it felt like it had 20 hp! I honestly destroyed my clutch trying to get it to move and not stall. AC works better on cars with bigger engines.

On the plus side, it does make my exhaust louder. :chuckle

If you use the defrost setting it automatically cycles the AC on/off to get the humidity out of the air before blowing at the windows.... winter OR summer it does this. So if you're trying to save gas, keep it on the floor or face blowers.

I'm quite aware of that thank you, that's one of the 'first' points I use whenever someone complains about bad fuel consumption! Not many people bother to read their Owner's manuals and are unaware of the point you made, and some are and 'never' use it...So I was just adding to the point that NOT using or activating the system on a regular basis, would be detrimental to a 'good' running AC system.Hense why some may be experiencing low performance from their AC.
