I read somewhere that apparently, the director and producers (I think) had a conflict of interest, that's why they're going with a different guy now. But in my opinion, this is a little to early as they've only started the series not too long ago. I agree that they should have just continued on to the last last episode... At least we get to see what happens at the end instead of all these remakes.

Id watch it, kinda have a feeling the trailer doesn't represent the movie well. Trailer was slow but the movie could be really good. Plus Emma Stone is in it, good enough reason for me to watch it.

watching this is like watching the batman dark night. the only difference when they re did the first batman was. it was a much better story line and a huge change over the first. why would they bother to waste time and money on this. should have made a 4th. or at the least a good spin off some how

I liked the trailer, especially the 1st person sequence. I thought that was pretty cool.
I agree that it's a little too soon for a reboot, but alas, the movie industry is a cash cow. Ppl will pay to see this movie anyway.

They did a horrible job on the CG. This was a dumb idea, they should have continued on with the 4th installment instead of restarting it again....

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks that rebooting this franchise at this point is a horrible idea. I was enjoying the last series and didn't sense that it needed to end (or even that it was going to) at all. Venom alone warrants more than a single movie, and it wasn't even the only villain.

No doubt this new movie will make tons of cash though, which is all that matters to Hollywood in the end. I don't think I'll watch this in the theatre to quietly protest this direction and hope that if it fails to meet expectations that they'll go back to the existing, good series (although I seriously doubt that would happen if it's true about the politics/personnel).
