Luckily i was parked in visitors parking at a building. Was about to head onto the DVP..

Have MAP roadside assistance, getting car towed to agincourt. (as much as i hate that place)

Will keep you guys posted.. Funny thing is the steering pump recall was completed earlier this year for me...

Why do you tow to a dealership you dislike? your not glued to the place, go some were where you feel comfortable dude.

I'm guessing the Mazda plan states it gets towed to the nearest dealership, no owner preference.

Oz, glad you weren't out on the highway but it still sucks to hear! Hope things get taken care of soon.

Map says you can choose if they are within 50km of each other.

Update: Got a call from Agincourt, they seem to think that the pump is fine and that there was for some reason a communication break between the pump and the control module?

They did ask me how long i had my deck in the car for (kenwood dnx 9140). Stated deck and steerin pump are on the same line? Anyhow hey said if theyfind the issue was due to a short in the wiring of my radio i would be on the hook for a 212 dollar diagnostic charge, if the module was bad hey will place a claim to Mazda.

How am i to verify that i am not getting shafted by the dealer?

So far i have been dealing with Agincourt on the phone

I've never heard of a power steering line being routed through the same system, if it's not the pump than it's most likely the module. Maybe you should remove your deck for as long as your in warranty to save yourself a headache next time? plus maybe next time they might refuse to fix it if say something in your interior goes to shit.

Update: dealer called.. Faulty module. No cost for me :)

They still have the car as the part isnt in stock.

I figured it was odd that they would ask about the deck. It has been in he car for over a year, so i knew thst could not have been the source.

the radio, climate control, instruments, power steering, etc are ALL on a network called a CAN bus..... because they are networked, a fault on an unrelated system could affect some other component... not probable, but possible

Glad to hear everything worked out and it wasn't the deck.
