Hey guys, I was thinking of adding a back up camera to my car and connect it to my in dash pionneer unit!! I've seen a few models on ebay but I'm a bit skeptical of their quality considering they cost like 20-30$. So I'm looking for a good quality camera that is easy to install! Open to all your suggestions :)

I bought this one:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/MAZDA-3-CCD-NTSC-Car-Rear-View-Backup-Camera-/270645757210?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f03be851a
I spent the extra money for a camera with a CCD sensor for the increased night visibility compared to cameras with a CMOS sensor. Although it doesn't specifically list 2005, it originally didn't list 2004 either. After purchasing it and have it installed I emailed the seller and informed them that it fit my (former) 2004 Mazda 3.

so it replaces the licence place light or does it do both? hows the resolution during day and night and in dash unit do you have?

I got the cheap 15 dollar ones from ebay. Cmos sensor and has like 6 leds around it for night. It mounts to the top 2 screws of your license plate. Quality is great for backup cam, been going strong for 1.5 yrs

The resolution was fine, it wasn't HD but it was adequate. I had it connect to a FlyAudio headunit. Night time visibility was great.

its made like the plate light but if you look where ur plate light is. there is 3 spots for them. the hatch's actually come with 2 plate lights and the sedans only 1, not sure y though

okay so here is my idea.. steal it if you wish or make fun of it haha..
i have a double din in which does not have a lock out... so i can view videos or the backup camera wile moving... i am also really low sooooo i was thinking whats stopping me from buying two cameras running them both into a switch and then into the back of my deck... having one on the back and one in the front.. then click the switch button to move between the two.. sort of like a switch you can get for two computer screens... that way i can see in front of me if my front lip is going to die or maybe even if its still there.. lol as well as see the road in front of me wile driving type of thing haha... what do you guys think

since the camera inputs are just simple RCA's you would use something like this. good idea and easy to wire up. im sure you could find a smaller one and only for the video

something like this and then a small switch to be able to make the input change with the signal wires.

its NOT that I need it. its just a nice addition to the car!! Its like having a dvd player in the car, you don't need it but it adds to the driving experience =)

well for one if you have a dvd player that works up front it shouldnt add to the driving experience as its illegal to drive while watching a movie in the first row of a vehicle.
