To Members who have bought either Flyaudio or Caska units.

(1) Are you happy with your purchase and would you buy the same unit again if you could go back.

(2) What problems if any did you have? and did the problem require warranty repair? If so how was it handled.

The reason for my questions is self interest, my sole income is disability pension so I can ill afford to lose money buying an iffy unit.

The reason I am considering these units is the ease of compatibility with the Mazda3. IE: being able to retain the LCD and Mid screens as well as the steering wheel controls.

Sorry heading should read Owners but cannot edit.

Thanks,
Pat.

I only had my FlyAudio unit (for my 2004) for a couple months before I sold it, but during that time I was quite impressed with it. I liked how it looked OEM and was a plug-and-play installation with some very nice features (compared to the stock audio unit). For those reasons, yes, I would buy it again. I had two minor problems with the unit and both times the store from where I bought the unit (CarAdvanced.com) came through and helped me out. The first problem was with the installation of the back up camera, the included instructions were rather cryptic but they were able to provide me with another wiring diagram which solved the problem. The second problem was with an error message that appeared on the screen at boot up. CarAdvanced promptly provided me with the solution and the problem was gone. The only thing the unit didn't have that the OEM unit had was the ALC, but aside from that everything worked as from the factory, even the steering wheel controls.

(1) I bought mine used with 2 previous owners, and if I had the money to buy it again (brand new), yes I would.
(2) One problem I'm currently faced with is the disc reader for the DVD takes a fair bit of time to load and after it plays for a good time, it freezes or have long pauses. I've only tried one disc, however I'm pretty sure it's the reader. Could've been caused by overuse of the first owner? I didn't have warranty since I'm not the original buyer and I haven't driven far enough to finish a DVD, but the predicament occurred when I took a trip to Ottawa. Another minor gripe I have is that it's not a complete match to OEM piano black, but the difference is negligible unless you're anal like me =P

I hope that helps your decision. I would recommend getting it...

i didn't like my fitment, and the start up. i wasn't totally sold on the interface graphics either....picky i guess....maybe not
I loved the way it looked in the car though (aside from the fitment)...........mines was the blue interface....i think the newer interface with yellow is better, not sure though.

If i had the cash i think i would get the flyaudio/caradvanced unit...it seems better than the Caska i had.
cheers
