Does any one know how to turn off the drls for the 2010 mazda 3s??? Thanks

Keep the handbrake yanked up one click. It'll keep the DRLs off ;)

Yea I was debating that. One click doesn't engage the break pad at that point in time eh?

I'm not too sure. I know with a rental 2010 3 GX I had, I did it when sneaking up my girlfriend's street to drop her off at night.
Don't think I ever got the chance to do that in my GT before it died.

May I ask why do you want to disable them?

Easy! Just pull out the "DRL" fuse in the fuse box.

I want to disable them because I am going to install halos.
I read about the fuse thing, but also people are saying if you just pull he fuse only one high beam will work.
Trying to figure out how to do this with the Mazda fuse:

FYI, angel eyes don't meet the requirements for daytime running lamps. Just so you're aware if/when a police officer takes exception to your lack of DRLs (however unlikely).
You might as well try pulling the fuse first, before assuming you need the same fix as for a Subaru. Will only take a moment to try, anyway.

I have an 08, which uses the high beams for DRL. I pulled the DRL fuse when I installed HIDs in the high beams. The low beams and high beams still work just fine.
It is possible that pulling the DRL fuse would disable the low beams on earlier models (04-06??) which use the low beams for DRL but I'm just speculating here, no experience to say for sure.
I am not sure how the DRLs work on 2010+ models, especially if you happen to have the bi-xenon headlights. Whatever, it is easy enough to pull the DRL fuse and see if things work the way you want.

I find that hard to believe because bmws come stock with halos as drl...
I would try pulling the fuse but my car is in the shop for the next few days. Who wants to test this for me? Lol

Stock equipment passes DOT testing and is certified for output and other characteristics. Pretty much anything you do to headlamps violates Transport Canada regulations.
Not saying you're likely to get in trouble for it (probably not), nor that I'd refrain from doing it (I have HID lowbeams and will eventually add halos too), but since nobody else mentioned it I thought you should be aware. :thumbsup

Alright that's cool. I know that the halos woulnt pass a safety requirement for drls. But. Also halos are not illegal ether. But I agree cops hassling you for no drl would be very un likly

Had angel eyes running as DRL for half a year now, no problems so far *knock on wood*

His is not a 2010+ so he won't be able to tell you.

I was referring to the DRLs more than anything. 07-09 is pull a fuse. That's it. SO unless he knows how to do it for the 2010, he can't help you.
As for the DRL, how do you want them to work? Do you want them on all of the time? If so then just wire them up with accessory power that only works when the car is turned on. I would still have a switch to them anyway so you still have control over them and just have the power come from and accessory, but that's just me. If you only want them when your headlights are not on then that gets a little more complicated and I can't help you.

Yea I'm planning on wiring them to an accessory that is on all the time. But I don't know which ones those are

On the MS3 or the M3 with tech package and bi-xenon headlights the DRL is on the opposite corner form the turn signal so closest to the middle Mazda symbol. There is no other function for this light other than a DRL so if you pull the fuse on a 2010speed or 2011 MS3 or 3 with tech package it will affect nothing, or you can just unplug the bulb.

I don't have tech package... I tried pulling the fuse and only one high beam works after wards. I haven't fully tested it yet but I will use electrical tape on the prongs untill I have drls off and both high beams working

I believe there are extra slots in fuse box for when the car is on. My AEs are hooked up to that, so they turn on when the car is on. I'll grab pics as soon as I can.

I was wondering if you knew what wires to tap to have halos on all the time??
Also was wondering of anybody knows of this was possible... For the turn signal constant on delete you tape one of the metal prongs on the bulb... Would this work the same on the high beam bulb???

No - the parking/turn signal bulbs have a double filament and three contacts; taping over the one contact disables the parking light function while retaining signalling.
The DRL bulb - assuming you're talking about the halogen reflector high-beams and not a bi-xenon equipped car (GT) - is simply the high beam running at reduced voltage. Only two contacts.

Yea, that's what I was assuming and hoping wasnt true... I guess after tomorrow once I **** around with the drl relay... And I'd I can't get it to work with drls off and both high beams on... I guess I only get one and I get to keep my relay in my centre console

It's definitely doable; just going to be a matter of how much footwork is involved.
I'm interested in the results as well, as I'd like to separate the DRLs and high-beams into different circuits on my headlamps - basically just an extension of your work to try to disable only the DRL function.

well good news, i was ****ing around with the relay, came to the conclusion the on the row of 3 prongs, the prong on the right is what triggered the drl.
i snapped the prong off, my drl is now disabled and my high beams both work, great success!
