Have you tried a locksmith?

I tried one downtown, he wouldn't do it. I've been meaning to try another.

I swore FLIPDADY cut a key for me before with no issues... I may have to pay MoT another visit...

The "Malls" dont do car keys for a "reason" :chuckle ...same with what the OP stated (Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Lowes..etc) for security purposes..

We get a lot of house keys cut for work, people regularly go in there for car copies. Believe what I heard is that their copies only open doors and don't start the car, this place is in waterloo though lol. Also had the dealership cut me another copy no issue. Dad lost my key :bang

Pretty sure you can get a key cut to open doors. But the smart chip will not be programmed to start the car.

IMHO - just get everything done at the stealership. That way it's everything is "guaranteed" to work properly

I got mine cut at a Home Depot. Weird they won't cut it for you.

I had my car key cut at the mall. The reason they can't cut them is probably related more to those places using those machines that are limited to what they can cut.

I was told that they don't cut it because if they screw up, they can't give you a replacement key because they don't stock chipped keys.

Try Home Hardware.

wtf? You can get the key cut at any of those places.... I have done it multiple times. If you can program it yourself, you can go any of those places to cut it, and if they give you a hard time ask to talk to the manager. The key is useless unless its programmed, and home depot or canadian tire sure as hell aren't going to be programming it...

I had gotten those cheaper copies of mazda 3 keys off Ebay and got them cut at MOT. Good thing I went there because the key wasn't cut properly so they provided a free replacement.

Direct Mazda did it for me!
