damn.. that sucks. planes scare me sometimes.. but old Russian planes REALLLY scare me.

Tragic!!! Very sad. Plane was built in '93. In aviation it's considered not to be old. The problem is that it was maintained by under skilled mechanics...... or very drunk ones.

I read somewhere that some of the Russian Airlines using Russian built planes (not sure of the Yak-42 is among those) are banned from flying in EU airspace.

What would never have passed inspection or safety for flying here in North America or in the European Union, may still pass in Russia because their standards are apparently lower.
