Hi to all , just got myself a 2004 Mazda with 118k, and I have Tm3 to thank cos of all the tips and insight that I got before the buy.. but that is where the problems begin.. the lady i got the car from had backed up into pole and left a significant dent/damage on the right side rear door. Following Tm3 threads I visited the most recommended places for fixing the issue.. friendly auto(formerly known as Street performance), jimmy next door, velocity, and BMC. all these places are close to where I work. Street performance was surprisingly more than BMC. I guess I will go with BMC due to the sheer manner in which Fred went thru the whole process and his setup is geared to body work compared to say SP. I'm currently looking for set of 4 used/new set of Mazda wheel covers for 15" steelies that I have on (please email if u have 4 to sell) I really like the ones the mazda's 2 have , and also the covers that come on 2006-2008 Mazda 3 variants, do these fit on the my existing 2004 steelies?? ... next up I think the car was serviced a couple of times in Kitchener Mazda.

Any recomendations for good dealership in the east (scarb/pickering/markham/ajax??) who I can in future go for servicing , keeping in mind that I really want to put in a claim for the incoming rust...which is just about showing its ugly head but not a lot ... !++ also what is the recommended engine oil for 3's.

Thanks for reading thru this exhaustive post:D, and waiting for the responses/thoughts to pour in !!:D

Welcome and congrats on your purchase.. :welcome smiley

I'll try to answer some of your questions. :) I believe Jimmy does maintenance services so you can take that into consideration as well. I used to go to Scarboro Mazda for service, but not anymore. I'll probably be taking my services to Jimmy from now on. There's Markham Mazda and Agincourt Mazda as well, but not sure how they are there so I can't comment for sure.

Regarding rust, I believe the warranty has been extended to 6 years so if you have a 2004, you might be out of luck. But still, don't give up hope and try it out. You might get lucky. :)

As for engine oil, Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, Pennzoil Platinum, Royal Purple are few of the best synthetic brands out there (assuming you're going to go synthetic). MS3 owners trust these oils so it should go well with the regular 3 as well. The syntec and platinum go on sale frequently at Canadian Tire and Walmart so just stock up on them during that time. There's a few more oils that had been mentioned here, but they're on a different thread. Just search and it will be found. :)

I hope these help you out. :)

I wish I had some insights on these vendors but thought I'd send a welcome your way. Welcome to TM3! :D

Thanks Rzapata for your inputs, I too think jimmy will be great for maintenance and will be surely be visiting him for the niggles. But for the body work in particular i'm not too sure of it..cos he just started his place. Yes I will keep an eye for the oils and going to try my luck with the rust asap.. Thanks again..!!

No problemo! :)

Oh, I should mention as well, since you're in the east end, you might want to try JR Auto Concepts (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?272-JR-Auto-Concepts). Jonathan and Ryan are honest folks and they do body work as well.

So yeah. :) Good luck and enjoy the community!

I have gone to both Agincourt & Markham Mazda for a warranty issue. Agincourt would not fix a transmission issue whereas Markham Mazda honoured the warranty without hassle after having their tech check the car. Just my 2 cents when comparing those 2 dealerships.

In terms of oil, I believe the favourite right now is Pennzoil Platinum on bobistheoilguy.com but the new Castrol Syntech EDGE formula is getting very good reviews. Most likely going to be the new favourite after more analysis. You can't go wrong really with any of the oils mentioned by rzapata though.

for regular maintenance and non-warranty work everyone here will agree jimmy at street performance is the guy to go to.

for parts you can always talk to or message joe at MOT (mazda of toronto) and get the tm3 discount which is 25%+ off (i.e. for your door, oem wheel cover, oem synthetic oil etc.).

as for body work, i am surprised no one recommended linwood motor (on glenn cameron after steeles/yonge). they are MOTs body shop as well as for a few other north york dealers (subaru/hyundai). i got my drivers door replaced there and the paint on the fender and rear door matched; really happy with the end result and price.
