The real deal Avante Mazda! *When you first walk in the doors for the service area you walk down a corridor with plaques adoring the wall. Each member of the Avante team is listed with years of service *at dealer. This not only shows their dedication to Mazda but Avante's to their staff!! No other dealer I have been to has this! The amenities are more than sufficient with free wi/fi access, water and coffee etc. Extra friendly reception upon entering and dropping your car off for service.
**
*I was referred to this dealer by a good Portuguese friend otherwise I would never of gone to Avante with the stuff you read on here! *For the past while I have been having issues with my 2010 Speed3 one of them was slight hesitation under full boost in any gear but more pronounced in 5/6th gears at highways speed when first getting into full boost. Avante did compression test which revealed a low cylinder pressure and 29% leak in one of them. They did paper work and I was back in a week put in a rental and they started the 2-stage throttle body and intake cleaning process to see if this would correct issue. I received a call stating it was successful and my car would be ready in the evening! After 8 mths and 20,000km we were finally making progress with my car, Avante corrected the hesitation with car and fuel mileage has increased. Now only questions that remain is how it happened, what preventative measures need to be taken to avoid the end solution again.*

It baffles me to read the stuff on these forums about Avante shuttle had me waiting or was late, or I was in lounge area for X amount of time for oil change? Was your vehicle repaired correctly? I do not know what ppl's priorities are in Richmond Hill but for me and the 4 trips on the 407 that cost$65 to be able to get my car serviced at Avante because no dealership in my area was capable of resolving my issues I wished I lived and bought my car in Richmond hill !!!
*

Thank-you Ted and Avante!!

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the kind words. Seriously!

I will be showing this thread to Ted and the rest of the Service Staff. This will make their day and make them love their jobs even more!

We have no reason to be rude to anyone! We do everything we can to keep up with our years of honest service to the Mazda owners! I can guarantee you that this will never end!

Cheers

Speaking from experience, we bought a 2011 Mazda 3 GT-E from Lorrie and had a great experience. We visited another dealership prior to going to Avante and what I liked was there was no pressure. Lorrie answered all our questions, was very helpful and by no means pressured us into anything. Thumbs up to Avante, and still loving our ride!! :D

Really I am on the fence about buying another Mazda, but if I do I will buy it from Avante and try to get Ted to sell it to me!! I have no need for sales staff or the up selling they usually do, I buy all my cars loaded all I care about is after sales service PERIOD!! The CX-5 with the diesel is on my radar so I guess we will see what the future holds, and if it is a Mazda it will 100% be an Avante Mazda as this is how Mazda probably envisioned all their dealer networks to service and repair their cars with the skill and expertise of this dealer period. I believe MCI needs to impose a minimum wage guarantee in critical areas of customer interaction & service at their authorized dealers to insure properly trained staff and retention. This has a big effect on the JD power survey for Mazda as mine was filled out with my experiences. Also If you keep going to any dealer and constantly see new faces, you know this is not a good sign!! Don't walk RUN as fast as you can to Avante and use them as the bench mark to measure all others!! I have yet to find one in the GTA, and I have been to 4 other Mazda dealers!! Don't give up hope, or just go to Avante to see how they do it right and you will need to look no further!

Their sales people are great. I had Lorrie sell me my 2010 GX.

I only switched dealers for servicing cause the tech told me that I cannot but synthetic 5W-30 and he'd void all my power train warranty.

^ our tech said that? What oil does your car take?? All we use now is full synthetic oil.

Last time I was at Avante was a year ago.... I don't know his name, but some Asian dude. I have a Mazda 3 and brought my own Mobil 1 5W-30. I know the 3 recommends 5W-20, but IMO the 30 has better protection and from what I read here, no one has had any problems. I tried explaining to the tech that it's ok, but he said he'd void my warranty... Last time I serviced at Avante.

I would just stick with the 5W-20, less hassle and it is whats "recommended".

When Mazda recommends something, we can't override that. It's not that we didn't want to help you, but if something did go wrong, we wouldn't want to be held responsible. That's the main reson why we said no and I think you understand. With company recommended oil, we have no issues doing an oil change for you.

Yeah to be honest I wouldn't expect them to put in anything else other than what Mazda specifically recommends. Mazda is ultimately responsible for upholding your warranty according to the specs that they provide you. Otherwise you could put something like chocolate sauce (went with this because it is tasty) in there and if something were to go wrong they would still have to fix it? I know the comparison isn't the same but you get my point.

+1 and completely understandable, until you are out of warranty. Then it is the customers call since it is their car, unless they are specifically trying to use something that would damage the motor. Only then would I expect that the dealership/shop would deny them the service with that oil choice.

I totally understand from the point of the the dealership... I forgot to say, when I called to make the appointment, I asked teh person on the phone if it's OK if I brought my own 5W-30 oil.... and they said it'd ok. I guess that's whats got me peeved.

probably just heard you saying you wanted to bring your own oil and thought you just mixed up the type of oil. Anyways, we apologise for the misunderstanding. Will let our advisors know to listen carefully when clients call in from here on. Appreciate the clarification.

For sure! We would still recommend what Mazda suggests, but it is totally your call once the car is out of warranty.

You should have told them to read the manual... The manual says if you can't find 5w20 then you can put 5w30... That's total bs if their telling you they would void your warranty

Edit: 2008 Manual says it

If you read carefully, it CLEARLY states EXCEPT USA & Canada.

We abide by the rules. No BS on our end......

Threating to void someone warranty cause they want to put 5w30 oil is a little extreme....

homieG
10-18-2011, 12:58 PM
You can take that up with Mazda Canada or better yet, Mazda Japan Corp if you don't "think" it's a big deal.

As I said before, we are just playing by the rules. It wasn't a "threat" by any means! It is a fact: Using the wrong oil type will VOID warranty as per Mazda, who we represent since we are a Mazda Dealership!

Threating to void someone warranty cause they want to put 5w30 oil is a little extreme....

You are right that they shouldn't have "threatened", and I use that word lightly, to void the warranty if they were to use 5w30. But if you want to play, you have to play by their rules, not your own, at least until the warranty is up. Those are the conditions you signed when you bought the vehicle.

If you go back to my example above the same thing applies. I'm not saying and neither is homieG that 5w30 oil isn't okay to use, but it only makes sense for their dealership, or any other for that matter to only allow 5w20 (recommended) during the warranty period. This is what Mazda has claimed to be best for use and will stick with that. In this case, it's black and white. Also, Mazda DOES have every right to void your warranty under any condition "other" than those specified. This would "technically" be one of them, even though it is a little extreme.

Realistically 5w30 won't cause an engine failure nor "should" the warranty be voided for its use, but there is always the chance it could be done.

If you want to put it in homieG's words, the dealership is looking out for your best interest regarding warranty purposes. In-turn it may save your warranty coverage later on and it's not costing you any more. So be thankful. Maybe next time the Service tech will word it more nicely. :)

With that said, I've had enough bickering about the same thing here and this policy isn't going to change. Please take your concerns to PM if you would like to find out more about this. This was a review type thread and has turned into a debate.
