Did an extensive search but found nothing with a poll..
Just curious when most do the flip..

This is the only other thread we have that I know of that has some actual information. No poll though.

I will be putting mine on Early to mid November. I'm not running all-seasons anymore and don't trust the colder temps with my summers.

I switch over when the temps are consistently in the single digits. The Dunlops I have on this summer were actually all-seasons, so the 1-2 days of the week where the temp dips down to 9-10 doesn't really make a difference to me.
If I had summer performance tires on - I'd most likely be switching this weekend since its not raining. My last set had a summer compound that felt like Siht in colder weather - kinda plasticy (like the Zeller's running shoes I had to wear when I was younger.)

when we get a forecast with consistent single digits. often mid-late nov.
Probally next week... I like to switch mine over just before I shut the water off (outside) that way I can wash them before I put them in my shed

I change mid to late October when the night temperature is consistently single digit. I drive at night sometimes and having a winter setup at 7 C or below is what is most important.

I say late November.. At least that's what I did last year.. I need new winter tires, will be getting them soon. :)
I just threw a set on my RAV4 because we don't drive it nearly as much as the Mazda. The 3 is my commuter that gets me to work. I will put the winters on probably the first or second week of November.

just thought I would throw this out there...a friend of mine who is with Dejardin Insurance told me that he saves 5% over the winter just because he called and told them that he has winter tires on his vehicle...just something to think about for when you do switch
Mine will go on when the weather is consistently around 7 degrees, after all thats typically when they become effective.

+1 I was being a little specific for 7, but 10 is a nice even number :P

Usually the week after Remembrance Day but some years I've pushed it to the beginning of December, depending on the weather forecast.

Today for my wife's car. Probably Friday for my MS3, but usually mid-November is when I do the switch. However, I'll be out of town for a week and want the assurance of having them on the wife's car in the event of an early season storm or cold weather.

I watch the temps during the hours I am on the road. For a lot of people they drive in the morning and early evening when it can be colder vs day time temps. So if your morning and evening commute is less than 7 it is a good idea to switch. And if you are driving a lot later at night when the temps dips towards freezing it's a good idea to have them on earlier and risk a bit of premature wear. Tires are relatively cheap compared to a shunt into a ditch or worse into another car.

I was thinking of doing the switch today, but I think I'll hold off another week. Definitely before the middle of November.

I switch when I officially can't leave the house without a jacket on, lol.
So really, it's dependant on the temperature so i don't rly wait for the snowfall

Considering the current temperatures, those that have winters but have chosen not to install yet are rather stupid imo. If you've got the tires, use them when it's appropriate (now).

looks like Toronto temperatures will be 10-15 C Friday to Monday. I'm getting my new winter tires on tomorrow evening. will these few days of higher temperatures do any damage to the tires? someone said to add a couple extra pressure to them?
