Hi PC computer guys,

I need some help regarding my wifi connection. I can connect (automatically) on my iPhone, but I can't connect on my PC laptop or tower PC. When I do connect I get a "limited or no connectivity" message. This started happening about 2 weeks ago. The modem works fine when I connect it directly.
What I have tried:

- unplugged both modem wireless router many times
- called the Rogers help desk but said the modem is fine so it may be the router which is not a Rogers product
- restored computer to 2 weeks ago

Anyone else with this problem or know of a solution?

One time I connected to my friends wireless on my laptop I got the same message.. It was a matter of having entered the wrong password.
It didn't say I entered the wrong password just said limited connectivity.??

I entered the correct password. Not a password issue.

Is it fine if you connect your computers via wire?

Can you connect to the router via wireless? On your computer connected via wireless, try to ping your router's IP. If it pings successfully, then it's a router problem. If not, it's a computer configuration or network problem.

Most likely it's your router... You can try to factory reset the router and reconfigure it...

right click on that icon, and click on network and sharing center

click on change adapter settings thats located on the left hand side
right click on whatever you are connected to...select properties

select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
click on properties
click on "obtain an IP address automatically"

* Do yourself a favour and go into the router config page and set the password to something simple like 1234567890 to test if it is indeed a password issue

* Disable your software firewall and security softwares one-by-one and see if your connectivity has been restored

* Factory reset the router, start initiating the connection from scratch

* Ensure that the network card has been installed properly/completely

* In network connections window, ensure that IPv6 isn't installed/selected

* If all of the above fail, consider setting a static IP address to something your router would normally spit out (ie. 192.168.1.25) and see if you can at least ping the router (probably 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)

Hold the reset button in on the back of your router for 10 seconds to restore to factory settings.

Don't forget to add a password.

are you on DHCP? If so, how many DHCP clients did you limit if any? There should be a range. As PCLoadLetter said, try a factory reset of the router.

you can also go to your wireless connection properties and uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network.
