View Full Version : Used (Steel) Rims -- Good idea?

Simple question. Are used (in this case steel) rims a good idea?

If yes, any particular wreckers/'auto recyclers' (other than perhaps the giant list in another thread) that can be recommended? Scarborough or Concord/Vaughan preferred.

If yes, what should I look for? I know that there should not be anything wrong with the part of the tire where the bead (cycling term?) meets the rim, but how should I check this?

Thanks

For the price they cost I would buy brand new unless your getting all 4 of them for under $100.

Brand new steelies cost around $200 from fourm sponsor

Even the dealer sells them for that now. At least MOT does.

I got 15 in for 180 all in last year. Not worth the used aspect.
Can usually haggle a better deal if your getting tires put on as well.

Check the sponsors section. New from wheelsco 40 bucks a pop. ( I think)
