Everytime i start the engine with the headlight switch on auto, the passenger side light always flickers for a second and then shuts off. The driver side works fine though.
to correct this, i would have to turn the lights to the OFF position and then switch it back to auto for the passenger side to come back on.
Today, I swapped both bulbs and same problem occurs when i turn the ignition with the headlight on auto. So then i thought it might be the ballast so i swapped that again... I tried 6000k lights and 8000k lights. Same problem. I don't have another relay to try out, but this is a new relay. The old relay exhibited the exact same problem.
Currently, this is the relay I'm using

I have the red on the positive of the battery and the black on the frame of the vehicle..
I also tried putting the black on negative of the battery but the same problem occurred.
correct me if im wrong but isn't this relay harness not that good? I thought there is suppposed to be a red and black for ( + / - ) of the battery and two grounds for the ballasts.

oh, i also tried new ballasts with the relay and same problem occured.

Does your relay have a capacitor on it? I don't know for sure if that'll work but that's how I set up my relay. You connect each side to each connector, that goes to the OEM bulb connector (bottom of your picture).

Unless the low beam lights are the same as the DRL's, a capacitor is not required
It seems to me 1 of 2 things
1/ the grounding point for your passenger side is incorrect. Make sure it's a solid metal-to-metal contact point
2/ There's a kink in the relay harness leading to the passenger side. You'll have to pull apart the wire loom to see if there's any cuts in the wires. MAYBE even have to replace the wires (or get a replacement harness)

Although unsure why you need a harness I have a suggestion.
Turn your lights to off. Start the car. Turn lights to on, or auto.
If I start my car with lights on auto the lights flicker, sometime stop flickering and work. Sometime one or both turn off.
After reading somewhere that the hids don't do well with the initial power boost when starting the car I started doing this and it works fine for me.
I also manually turn on my lights at all times of the day. My high beam hids have turned off my drls.
What is the harness for?

Replace the relay with something like this:

do i just unplug the relay on the harness and replace with the time delay relay from retrosolutions? seems too simple..

Yup.
HIDs don't like being turned on and off quickly, which is what happens when you start the engine. As the key passes through "run" the headlights fire up, then when you hit "start" they shut off and when you release the key back to "run" they try to fire up again. The delay relay prevents the initial headlight start from occurring, which means you don't get "on-off-on", just "on".
I am sure you can also the delay relays from eBay, and probably from our sponsors as well.

I have an '06 hatch, with HID's in the fogs. Once in a while, the passenger fog light goes out. I've done the indy fog mod in the fuse panel under the hood. I was thinking of getting a delay relay to prevent the fog lights from coming on right away. I always have the headlights in Auto. I've been going through the How-To's for the Indy Fog mod, but can't find out the circuit/wiring for the fog relay, to see if I can get a delay relay. Anybody have any idea what type of relay it is?

Happened to me long time ago. I changed the ballast 3 times but every time same brand. That's a stupid mistake. The fourth time I change to other brand then everything become ok. Remember both side ballast must be sameOne

i just got my time delay relay today. It worked for 2 minutes and it doesnt work anymore. Ordered it on ebay from retrosolutions.
my lowbeams worked for two minutes and then my lights went out. I restarted the car and the HIDs would flicker for half a second every 10 seconds. I can hear the relay clicking every 10 seconds in the background.
The regular relay works fine when i plug it in.

polarity is correct including the polarity from the vehicle light socket.
anyone know if i can get some GT lights installed in a non GT?

Hey nguy3nha, did not see this thread. But if you ordered a Time Delay Relay to maintain the Mazda's Auto-Light feature, take a look at my How-To and see if that helps:
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?56825-How-To-(07-)-Aftermarket-HID-Time-Delay-On-and-Off
I remember when I was wiring up my TDR setup, I tried to replace the Bosch Relay with the TDR directly hoping that everything would work. Unfortunately, the TDR wasn't able to provide the amps to the HIDs so the lights would flick on for a second and then shut-off. My How-To guide worked around this buy applying the Time Delay between the trigger signal and the HID harness' Bosch relay. Get the same result but way less current going through the TDR.

I have the same problem. I bought from Retro Solutions as well. Definitely a poorly designed product, considering it was designed for aftermarket HID's.

they are sending me a new replacement but i doubt it will work as advertised.. Apparently the TDR is rated for 40 amps but the slim digital ballasts that im using is rated at 6.5 amps on ignition. There is no way the ballasts are causing the TDR to blow.
what's more interesting is that i can't find much bad information about retro solution's time delay relay online so that leads me to believe that most people are happy with it..
i hope the next one will work fine. The guide that liquidzyklon posted seems a bit difficult for me.

okay so i figured out what the problem was.. both ballasts are drawing too much power upon firing up so it causes the TDR to trip.. If i have one ballast going, the TDR will work fine..
the TDR is rated up to 40 amps.. i somehow doubt its anywhere close to that since 35watt digital slim ballasts arent supposed to draw that much power to begin with.
since retrosolutions is sending me another TDR to test, i will just simply install a second relay harness with the TDR for my other lights..
this is the configuration:
driver's side: one relay harness from battery with the TDR
passenger side: another relay harness from the battery with the TDR
will this work??

It's most likely in-rush current that is causing the TDR to reset. Once fired though, the HID's will draw less current than halogens. I don't see the problem with your configuration of having two harnesses. I'm either going to do the double relay method or get a thermistor to limit the in-rush current.

Did you ever get your issue resolved? I wired mine up like liquidzyklon did, and it still doesn't work.
