Recently, i purchased this mazda3, 2007 GT, wagon, 5MT, 2.3L
bought from Scarboro Mazda

when i test drove the car i noticed a wheel bearing wine and told the servicemen about it, they assured me they'd fix for the vehicle's safety. Also the rear breaks were scored to unbelievable garbage

I picked up the car and the wine was still there. breaks still there
brought it back to the dealership and they assured me it was tires and they would give them to me the following week
the next day i put the car up on my own hoist to change the rear break rotors and pads. when the rotors were off i spun both bearings.

I WAS RIGHT, the rear left was garbage. so i changed the bearings.
AND on top of that the rear shocks i noticed were shot

now the rear left no longer wines. which gives my attention to a slight wine from the front (as well as severely warped front rotors which sway the car as i stop)

This bothers me to no end. And scarboro mazda just keeps throwing the saying of theyre more knowlegable and its tires and nothing else.

Im frusterated, because shocks, 4 bearings, 4 rotors, 4 pads, will amount to over 1200$ just in PARTS. I didnt buy a car from a dealership to fix it myself.

I called Mazda Canada to try and get them to help, they were sympathetic but said that they cannot force the dealer to compensate me.

can anyone provide further help to me? I cant afford to pay and labour out of my own pocket on a car that should be less work than my last on (1990 mazda323)

Contact MTO

Before your safety expires.

Also it doesn't hurt but contact the Toronto sun or Toronto star... A little extreme but most cases people get results

Good luck

Call MTO and talk to them... Thoses things you had to change are part of safety. I'm pretty sure they will make them pay... And they will also be in trouble.

Also Toronto sun or Toronto star will get results for you... Most company's say no unroll the media gets involved... Once they get involved the company's most times will pay to make it go away

hmmm
thanks.
issue is, i dont want THEM to do it now, as much as i've seen their work, i dont trust it. all it takes is them to do the fix, then slice a CV boot in anger, or do any other sabotage like spray the MAS to damage fuel economy. I'd rather they pay (or supply) the parts and ill do it myself.

Why didn't you or your mechanic inspect the car prior to accepting delivery?

Well.. As an update (if anyone cares to care). I went back, argued with them, and they paid me for the front bearings on a note that I never come back and sign a release form saying I will never contact or refer anyone to them as they don't want to be hassled by my business (even though it's their fault).

Furthermore, they told me they did an oil change and filter before giving me the car. This is false, as I just did an oil change and found only 2.5L of oil in the car :complain :whoa .. The filte was original with the car (judging by how shrivelled and ancient it looked, plus it took almost an hour of fighting to get the filter cap off). The oil was black and thinned out. Gotta love the stealership honesty.

Please, everyone, do yourselves a favour; never go to Scarboro Mazda. Ever. Period. Exclamation mark.
I'm going to be calling Mazda Canada to update them and give them this information.

looks like you can't trust any dealership service department anymore

If you have issues with the dealer, I would definitely recommend you take it up with whomever you think will help stop others from getting screwed. That said, I would recommend that you fix "wine" and "breaks". (I'm not trying to be an ass about it. I just want you to be taken seriously to whomever you write to.)

well. posting here is a good start. Idk what more to do other than call Mazda Canada or stand with a big sign saying "dont buy here" in front of the stealership

I'm having issues with them as well now. I've got a post in the Car Problems area about this. Ever since the new Service Manager has arrived, I've had nothing but problems. Their old Service Manager was amazing and had great customer service. I've just been told they won't fix a problem because I changed light bulbs. Mazda Canada will be called on this.

Your only chance of getting any compensation is acting when the safety is valid, if it expires your shit out of luck. First step would be to take it to another mechanic or 2 and get a safety check done (without fixing the stuff wrong), second step would be a small claims court. You can complain to the MTO but all that will do is get the guy who signed off on the safety to have his licence suspended. These guys obviously haven't learned if they still continue to screw people. There is no way a car would be properly certified with a whining bearing and scored/warped rotors.

Don't complain to MTO, they will do a strip-test of your car for safety. Get another mechanic to resafety the car, and obviously it will fail on the missing bulb - then have it fixed of course, then go back to the dealership and show them the new safety, along with your threat to take it to court/MTO.

Having it fixed is good, so if you do go to MTO, they will see the safety was reinstated at another shop.

You really can't. I had the same issue with Gyro, and they can also suck the fattest part of my ass
