View Full Version : Wiper not parking properly
So my wipers havent been parking properly since last winter when I accidentally turned my wipers on when they were iced onto the windshield. I attempted to try to take it out to fix it but I cant seem to get the wiper arm out.
Took out the black cap, loosened the nut but it woudlnt come out. Didnt want to tug or force it because it felt very unnatural to do it that way. Am I missing something?
Also, when I get it out, what do I look for to see whats broken/how to fix it?

check this out? http://www.thaimazda3.com/svmanual/esicont/en/srvc/html/B3E091967320W01.html
My guess would be checking if the teeth on those gears are still there or worn out.
So from the picture it looks like the only thing holding the wiper in is the nut? When I pulled on it, it felt like I was pulling the motor as well which is why I left it alone. Maybe it rusted on?

Depending on how old your car is, it does stick. I remember the first time I pulled mine off, had to use a puller tool.

push down on the hinge/joint where the wiper arm swings out... the spring tension is putting side load on the wiper transmission which prevents its removal... pushing down on the hinge removes this tension and allows it to come straight out instead of cockeyed

Use lube.
Thanks guys, I got it!
I couldnt take it out by hand and I didnt have a puller so I improvised. I used a valve spring compressor that I bought a while back and I never used...I dont know why I bought it but it came into use today. Took the wiper out and put it back in and it parks properly now.
