Hey everyone! I have a 2010 mazda 3 gs sport without bose. Last year I installed a kenwood KAC-8105D mono block amp to power a 12" Kicker Comp VR. I was using the factory HU and everything was working fine. I was able to tune my amp the way I wanted to and still have plenty of room on the dials for adjustment.
Now, I have installed an Alpine INA-910 HU. Im still using the same sub and amp but from the second it was installed, the amp needs to be nearly maxed out on the dials in order compete with the power the sub once had with my OEM HU, and it's not much power that I'm looking for.
My questions is, why would this happen as soon as i put in a 10000000000x better HU? is there a setting that needs to be changed on the alpine HU in order to work properly with the amp? (..and for all you funny guys who wanna reply, I already turned on the sub function with my HU ;))
Thanks for any and all help!

Are you still connected to an LOC? Or did you run the RCA right to HU-amp?

^I have a feeling you left the amp input the same way as you had the stock HU (IE taking signal off the rear speakers). The issue with that is when you turn on the Subwoofer mode on the HU, it stops sending bass to the speakers, which is why you are not hearing it on the sub. You need to re-wire the signal source of the amp directly into the back of the HU (where it says Subwoofer output).

Yeah check the amp make sure it's set to RCA input not Spk Lvl input.
Check that the deck has the sub turned on and the cross over frequency is set.

I removed the LOC and connected into the sub input on the back of my HU.

What should the cross-over freq. be set to?

I removed the LOC and used RCA's directly from the mono block amp to the sub output on the HU. I will double check that the RCA's run from the sub output to the sub inut on the amp and get back to you guys asap!

Have you set your gains properly (on your amp)?

If anything, wouldn't he need less gain with the new HU?

Ensure the headunit subwoofer control is turned on and if setting are used aswell ensure that they are set correctly.
Frequency is all up to the listener, start off with 100hz, turn your deck all the way up and then back it off about 5-6 volume, then up your gains until you hear distortion. once you hear distortion turn it back a little bit.
Then you can work with the frequencies to your liking. When doing all the setting turn your bass boost all the way to 0.
The proper way to do this is with an oscilloscope and an RTA meter but that as different ball game
