View Full Version : Need you help rim heads: 15" BBS, can it be bored accurately and economically
found a set of oem 15" rx-7 bbs wheels on kijiji (see below). bolt pattern matches, 5x114.3, but bore is too small at 59.6mm (http://rimhelp.com/Mazda_Bolt_Patterns.htm). Is it possible to accurately and economically bore it out to 67.1mm or 68mm?
I found this thread but no answer as to where it can be done for $100 (sent fobio and mazdakitten a pm):
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?31403-Hub-boring-resource
This i assume is the simply tire contact ($150) - superior machining (keele/HWY 7):

The kijiji seller said he can put me in contact with another individual who has two more rims, only if im serious (i dont want to waste anyone's time either). My goal is to spend no more than $400 on the whole project (3 rims themselves, machining, extra 4/5th wheel and centre caps). Budgeting about another $300 for winters (195/65/15). Any help would be appreciated.

Can you even use 15's on your car?
You can redrill center bore for $100-200. That being said - you can also get hubcentric spacers that can help eliminate the problem AND get you hella flush

Anyone with a big lathe can do this job. Call up some machine shops and ask around. All of them deal in measurements much more accurate than 0.1 mm.

benefit of 2.0Slow lol. i always thought spacers were to fill out bore, didnt know there was something that did the opposite. any links?

As for the first-gen, 15" rims fit on the lower-displacement engine (2.0L) but not on models with higher displacement (2.5L), as the brake calipers are larger on the latter.
zzz3: If I recall correctly, someone on the forums works at a machine shop and made himself an offset plate at work... Perhaps you could find them and ask for an estimate?
EDIT: Found it. PCLoadLetter was the member who made himself an offset plate (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?52055-Offset-License-Plate).

In that case... To answer this question

You can get 67.1mm Hubcentric spacers to whatever you need to fit your rim
You're thinking (at the time) Hubcentric rings.
