First, i have to give a great review to the sales department. I traded in a 2011 hyundai accent for a 2011 mazda 3 gx, Jeff gave me a great deal and im extremely happy with dealing with him.

Now my complaint is against the service deparment. 3 days after i got the car, i started to hear a humming sound coming from the front of the car whenever i do 70 to 80 km/h, pull to the left, rattling noise from the trunk and the front passanger seat vibrate like crazy when i do over 110 km/h, I called the service deparment when i notice that but i couldnt make an appointment since i rarely get days off. on monday i made an appointment for today at 10 AM to get the car fixed because all that little noise and the seat vibrating is bugging me so much and its a brand new car. I get there today in between 10 - 11 AM and explain them again what i want them to check and fix, the lady at the desk tell me its gonna take few hours since they have more car to work on so she give me a rental car for the day and tell me theyre going to call when the car is ready, that was great, i was ok with it taking it few hours, so i leave the dealership and come back at around 2:30 PM, the lady tells me the car is ready, i asked her what the problem was and she says that the humming noise is normal, that it could be because the tires were over inflated and the car was out alignment, the vibration on the front passanger seat was normal and the rattling should be gone after the alignment. I wasnt happy with the answer so i told her that the rental they gave me, which was a 2010 mazda 3, didnt make that sound, so she tells me to leave the car and that theyre gonna check the bearings and it might take a few more hours, fine..thats around 3 PM...so i leave the car, go do some stuff around the area and come back at around 4:30 PM, find the car still in the same parking spot where it was before i left at 3...she says the bearings are fine and that the car should be fine, so i take it, its almost 5 PM, ive spend the whole day waiting and i just want to go home and rest...when i drive off the dealership i notice the rattling noise is gone, but the car now pulls me to the right like crazy, i have to keep the steering wheel to the left so the car goes straight, if i try to put the steering wheel on the centre it would go to the right. So i go back to the dealership and tell them the problem...she says they can't do anything now because all the technicians are gone, that ill have to bring the car again to get it fixed...i dont want to be spending all my days off bringing a NEW car to get fixed because the technicians didnt do a good job on it, i want my car to be running fine, its only 2 weeks old, im disappointed, i will still bring the car to the same dealership until it gets fix, but after that, i might not get any more service done there.

Holy wall-o-text, Batman!

If you want people to read your (presumably legitimate) complaints/issues, you might want to present them in a more reader-friendly format... :S

We are not hearing great things about MOT service department. Lots of good stuff about Jeff as always. Periods and capitals are also useful.

Paulabreu's Complaint
(Edited by Fuyuzora)

First I have to give a great review to the sales department. I traded in a 2011 Hyundai Accent for a 2011 Mazda3 GX; Jeff gave me a great deal and I was extremely happy to deal with him.

My complaint is against the service department.

Three days after I got the car, I started to hear a humming sound coming from the front of the car whenever I go 70~80 km/h, and the car was pulling to the left, as well as making a rattling noise from the trunk. The front passenger seat would also vibrate like crazy when I go over 110 km/h... When I noticed this I called the service department, but I couldn't make an appointment since I rarely get days off.

On Monday I made an appointment for today (2011-11-16) at 10 AM to get the car fixed because that noise and the seat vibrating is bugging me so much and it’s a brand new car.

I got there today around 10~11 AM and explained to them again what I want them to check and fix, and the lady at the desk tells me its going to take a few hours since they have more cars to work on, so she gives me a rental car for the day and tells me they’re going to call when the car is ready. That was great; I was ok with it taking it few hours, so I left the dealership and came back at around 2:30 PM.

The lady told me the car was ready so I asked her what the problem was and she says that the humming noise is normal, that it could be because the tires were over inflated and the car was out alignment, that the vibration on the front passenger seat was normal and the rattling should be gone after the alignment. I wasn’t happy with the answer so I told her that the rental they gave me, which was also a 2010 Mazda3, didn’t make that sound, so she told me to leave the car and that they’re going to check the bearings and it might take a few more hours.

Fine - that’s around 3 PM... So I left the car, went to do some stuff around the area and came back at around 4:30 PM, only to find the car still in the same parking spot where it was before I left at 3... She says the bearings are fine and that the car should be fine, so I take it - it’s almost 5 PM and I’ve spent the whole day waiting and I just want to go home and rest...

When I drive off the dealership lot I notice the rattling noise is gone, but the car now pulls me to the right like crazy, and I have to keep the steering wheel to the left so the car goes straight. If I try to put the steering wheel on the centre it would go to the right.

So I go back to the dealership and tell them the problem... She says they can't do anything now because all the technicians are gone, that I’ll have to bring the car again to get it fixed...

I don’t want to be spending all my days off bringing a NEW car to get fixed because the technicians didn’t do a good job on it; I want my car to be running fine - Its only 2 weeks old! I’m disappointed… I will still bring the car to the same dealership until it gets fixed, but after that, I might not get any more service done there.

Side note I forgot to mention - remember that the warranty on the car is from MAZDA CANADA and not from the dealership you purchased the car at (Mazda of Toronto).... So since you don't feel they did a good job of resolving your issue, go ahead and take it to a different dealership and see if their techs are more willing to determine the cause of the problem.

To quote Einstein - the definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

Also, remember to post when/where/if your issues are resolved, and what the problem turned out to be! :thumbsup

I read it before Fuyuzora's edit. Feel almost as smug as I would driving a Prius.

Go to Avante for service then. It's about 15-25 minutes north of Mazda of Toronto depending in traffic.

Take it to Dave Wood Mazda in Newmarket since you're in Keswick. They've been great thus far.

+1 for Dave Wood Mazda. They've always done a great job on my car. They even lubed my after market short shifter so that it wouldnt squeek.

Could it be that something is not secure either in the spare tire area or where the jack is?

Could it be that something is not secure either in the spare tire area or where the jack is?

i checked all that, even took the jack and all the tools and things from the trunk except for the spare tire, sound still there.

came across this when looking on the mazda3revolution forum

Might have found a fix to the rattle in the trunk (sedan).
Maybe found a fix to the rattle in the trunk!

Last weekend, I was driving around and finally couldn't take the rattle anymore. I stopped the car (at the side of the road), opened the trunk (I have a sedan with no spoiler) and started bumping things to see if I could replicate the noise. I did!

And, it's ridiculous.

On my car, the noise was being created by a plastic pin placed in a hole just behind the hinge of the trunk. It lines up with another plastic pin in the trunk lid, but the bottom ones rattle around, making a noise that sounds like a screw or washer bouncing around on metal.

Now, I am NOT a certified Mazda technician, so I have no idea if these serve any true purpose. Remove them at your own risk. I removed mine with a pair of pliers to pinch the bottoms, and haven't heard any rattling noise since. If two plastic pins this flimsy mean the difference between a safe car and an unsafe car, then I'm never buying Mazda again!

Over the past few days, my love for the car has returned. It's amazing how a recurring rattle can destroy a car's appeal.

haven't tried that yet, i dont want to break anything, rather leave it for the dealership

its kinda funny how the original rant was i think 5 sentences they were such run on sentences. And Wheel Bearings on a new mazda3 is not uncommon as they smoked crack on the design. But service dept's always pull this kinda bogus. they're most likely acting this way to make you go somewhere else.
