I'm torn between the two right now. I can get a new set of NF5's for $500 tax in, installed or the Speed Grips for $470 tax in, installed.
Are the nf5's of a higher quality? I believe they are also T rated where the ssg's are H. However the ssg's are quieter but not as good on the ice.
I understand it's a matter of opinion, however I would love to hear them.

Depends what you want from a snow tire and what type of conditions you are driving in.
The Nordfrosts are a true winter tire. Great in snow and ice, but also soft, fairly loud and a little squirmy at high speeds.
The Semperits are harder tires and better for highway driving on the dry days. They are less noisy, but not as squirmy. However, they have nowhere near the snow and ice traction of the Nordfrosts. The Semperits are about the same as the Hankook W300 Icebears in terms of performance.
If it was me, I put the Nordfrost5 or Hankook iPike409 on a regular 3 and the Semperits or Hankook W300's on an MS3. There are many other choices as well.

Gislaved, I run them at 40psi, and it is pretty good in the dry. As for it being loud, I don't remember how loud they were.

I guess the top safety marks go to Gislaved over the Semperit for my GT, but it sounds like the Gislaved won't last as long. Is there much of a difference in performance with regards to cornering and braking in the dry? You think speed ratings are something to consider? I also haven't read too much on the winter claws, which were also an option. Anyone have thoughts here?
