Sometimes (maybe once out of every 30-40 times I start my car) she bogs up quite hard as she turns on and the RPMs sit around 350-400, then once I give it a quick rev the car turns on and everything seems to run fine after. Any indication as to what could be causing the problem? I thought it was the battery originally but it has been tested and proven good.
Thanks for any input any of you may have!
Cheers

I had the same thing happen to me a couple times. Can't say it happens as often as it does for you but a little rev fixes the problem right away...however I figured out that it had something to do with accidentally leaving my ipod adapter plugged in overnight.
If it's not your battery I'm not sure what else would trigger it. Spark plugs? Alternator?

do you ever do quick starts and stops? i hear a lot about mazda3s if the car does not run for quite some time (anything longer than a couple minutes) the injectors dont fully turn off and causes the engine to flood. Ive tested this method myself and its true. make sure ur car runs for sometime everytime

I do a lot of quick drives to campus and to run errands but I try to let the car run for a prolonged period of time in all of these instances. Either way, as I was pulling out of my girlfriends condo building today my car totally shut off and died. Luckily I was able to catch her before she slid into an oncoming FEDEX truck that swerved and hopped the curb because of me. I then spent about twenty minutes in the rain with the help of a stranger pushing my ride into the nearest available parking spot.
I'm not sure what the issue is here...but when I try to start her up my gauges all max up then drop back down with no starting response from the engine. I think my battery may be dead - so I will be going back later on with some booster cables in an attempt to get her to run again. If she manages to turn on after a slight charge, I would assume that my battery would be at fault here and will be getting it replaced.
It is weird however, because my gauges, lighting and music in the car all play, but I feel as if the battery may be too weak to surge to the necessary power to turn my car on and then maintain enough to keep her running consistent.
More updates will follow... (f**k i'm starting to hate mazda)

my parents had an issue with their 2008 and 2010 honda civic sedan, where it wouldnt just be a rough start, it would also be a failed first start.
never found out what the issue was though, comes and goes from time to time, out of maybe 100-150 starts it would happen.

My car usually starts fine, except the start is rough when it happens. I don't know what could be causing it but at the moment I won't worry about it - as it hasn't caused me any major issues as of yet.
My bigger concern is how the car just died on me the other day...it cannot be hydrolocking of any sort since my engine is all stock now but I'm worried a wire somewhere is loose and that could be causing it...

My dad had this problem with his crapalier. He was do for a tune up so we changed the pkugs and the fuel filter. The fuel filter was clogged enough to cause the car to either stall once in while or bog like you are describing. But 98% of the time the car ran fine. worth a shot if its never been done.
