Installed this dash kit but cant seem to get the bottom portion to stay clipped in. As you can see in the pic, I can easily pull up on the bottom of the dask kit because it doesnt clip into where the HVAC controls are.
Anyone else have this problem?

Check in with Eric (chan7) as I think he has a double din installed in his car.

Wow.. sorry to hear your having issues with fitment as that doesn't look right at all. Unfortunately, I did not install my double din, you can pm dave2010gt to see if he could provide some pointers on how to install the dash kit. My system was all setup prior to installation onto the car, therefore I'm not sure how it was mounted.

I have the Scosche double din in my 2010 Sport GT and it fits perfectly, I heard bad reports about the Metra kits.

Im thinking Scosche may be my best solution. Looking at pics online, how does it clip into the HVAC cover? Thats my main concern, as right now I can easily pull up on the thing with my finger.
Also did anyone buy their Scosche kit online? Amazon had one for $28 shipped but they're out of stock at the moment, I may go down to Best Buy and see how much to order one here in London.

Thanks guys

The Scosche clips in the same way the OEM head unit does, and is secured with the two screws at the top. There is no way you can pull it out of the dash if it ias properly mounted. Like I said I have heard that the Metra is crap. BTW I bought mine on Ebay here

Hey, I have the Metra double din kit for my 2010 3. I use it with an Alpine INA-910. I have no issues with the fitment whatsoever. In fact, it clips in so firm that I need a screwdriver to pry it out of place.

You are right, along the bottom of the face plate there is no clips which fasten it to the climate control unit. However, the main clips located on either side of the face plate SHOULD offer more than enough support. Maybe your double din unit has a broken clip or possibly the space the clip fits into is bored out and isn't providing a tight fitment for the clips.

First off from what I can see is that your deck is too far out you need to move it back in the mounting bracket and that might help.

Is there a way to resuse the oem clips? Just looking over Metra's installation instructions again and it doesnt show anything.
I will definetly hafta compare these clips to the factory ones next time i pull out the stocker.
Haha and I do agree, it does look ghetto!
That is the JVC AVX840 in the pic, from what I've heard about this double din is that it seems to stick out alot in many vehicles. I just shipped it back to Sonic Electronix tonight as it was freezing up on me after receiving a phone call via bluetooth. I'm looking to replace it with a Pioneer Avic Z130BT and also pickup a Scosche mount as well.

I have a JVC KWNT3 head unit in a Scosche double din with no issues.

I've always prefered scoches over metra.
