The engine light came on tonight, I'm driving a 2011 3 GT with only 10,000 Kms on it.

I filled up with gas last night and checked the cap already. I'm guessing this is under warranty? Seems really odd since the car is fairly new.

Also, do I have to take the car back to the original dealer for warranty issues or can I take it to any Mazda?

you can take it to any mazda dealer to have it inspected. yes this is under warranty or at the least it should be as long as there is no after market mods that may have caused it to come on. apart from the gas cap i couldnt take a stab at what i would even think it would be. dont see many new gens come in with engine lights on. update this once you have it scanned, i would love to know what it was.

u can just reset it by unplugging the battery, unless u want to know what it is., could be serious.

Don't reset it yourself yet. I would definitely take it to a dealer like Booter said. Have them check it for free and fix the problem if necessary. It may not be serious but I would still have it checked.

LOL, or he could stick a piece of black hockey tape over the "check engine light".... viola! problem solved. :P

On a serious note, I'd definitely get it checked

Take it to the dealer - it's covered.

My 2010 threw a CEL a few weeks ago and I took it in to QEW while getting an oil change. Turned out it was a P0301 cylinder 1 misfire - the air box was not securely fastened. Everything has been fine since.

Go and see Booter if you can, he/they will take care of you.
