Hey guys, So i drive a 06 Mazda 3. Ive been driving for about a month, but ive noticed, that My car only last about 380 km on a full tank of gas. I dont feel completely satisfied with the gas millage. Others have told me it might be a problem with my car. So i was wondering is my car running 380KM on a full tank normal? or is their a problem with my car?

A lot of people had that problem before and it's been discussed a few times. Try searching bad gas mileage and you'd find a thread that's got a lot of discussion. But to tell you the truth, 380km on a full tank is definitely not right... Could be a lot of things, spark plugs, try switching to synthetic, the old lead foot driving, MAF, and lots more.

Try to explain what's goin on with the car. Also, what's the trim (GT, GS, GX)? Mileage?

What's your definition of a full tank, now many litres did you put in it? The gas gauge on these cars says empty when there is quite a lot of gas in the tank still.

a good tune up will go a long way, also how hard are you on the gas?

how many kilometres are on the car, and how long intervals do you go between oil changes

Do a tune up, so many people over look things like plugs/air filters, a clogged filter and old plugs will reduce your mileage significantly. Also check your tire pressure, and do remember when it gets colder your car will eat more gas. Also, using your defroster runs the A/C and also sucks gas, so many things to keep in mind!

I was having the same problem and I changed the filter, spark plug, 5w20 oil(help fuel economy), seafoamed, and put 91 in with injector cleaner and it really helped

Question: is about 470-500km good on a full tank? I have some what of a heavy foot but not that bad and not always. By full tank I mean all the way to the top.

5spd MT, that's exactly what I use to get when I tracked with fuelly. Around 9.2 - 9.8L/100km depending on amount of highway driving.
The 3's especially the GT's are not the most fuel efficient vehicles.

But I guess that's what separates a Mazda 3 from an Elantra / Civic....

Well i have a heavy foot. But like i rarely drive the car only for university which is like 20km and and like 6 km for work (to go n comeback) My uncle told me that i might need a new airfilter.
