Im a total noob and want better audio in my non bose 2011 3. I figured i should replace m stock speakers with some quality components, but wonder how complicated it is as a DIY. i saw online that all you do is pop off the door panel, remove existing speaker, and use fit the new one in after attaching the wires to it. Sounds too simple......... What am i missing? Thanks in advance.

I think if you are replacing the speakers with quality components you may want to get a deck or an amp to power them. I guess you could always start with components and see if that is what you are looking for. Check out Garage16 thread on Pioneer products and he also has a fit guide for speakers.

Metra 72-5600
So what you do with this wire is plug it into the new speakers and then plug the other end to factory harness

Not an expert but I believe this is for 2009 and earlier. Will not fit 2nd generation.

If you need one of these adapters for aftermarket speakers...how come the Alpines installed so perfectly? They came with them didn't they?

I wired mine in without any adapter into my 06GT with the factory head unit and they work no problem.

I'm not understanding your point here? Did you even read the OP post?

So just to be clear, you dont necessarily need the speaker harness.....

No you don't... But it's so much easier ... No wiring just plug it in

I did read the OP's post - however when I read the thread I was under the impression that this is the ONLY WAY aftermarket speakers could be connected to an otherwise stock unit...I have effectively confused myself now.

If you took the time to actualy read my first post in this thread you will see that I only mentioned the adaptor because it makes it much easier...
