Hi all

I was wondering I anybody has experienced this. It only happens when it rain or I go thru puddle of water. It is coming from back it does not sound like its bearing it's like metal to metal sign. I asked jimmy a while back to check bearings he said they are fine. It just it drives me nuts sometimes.

Any advice?

Thx all

Is there any water inside the car anywhere? If not I wouldnt be overly concerned.

i think i've had this sound as well. it sounds like water is running down the interior body of the car, similar to the noise water makes when running down a downspout from the eaves-trough. I haven't noticed any interior dampness or signs of water damage so I've left it alone.

have any of you had the car undercoated/oil spray. because i know a lot of places that drill arbitrarily and all they end up doing is creating new water-entrance-channels. which end up causing this noise to occur

That's what exactly sounds. I guess I will give jimmy to take a look one more time before the exhaust goes on.

If the holes are plugged properly than no water will enter the body, besides you would need a lot of water entering the body to get the sounds that is being experienced. My 3 has holes drilled for the oil undercoating and I don't experience what is talked about.
Thin steel body which amplifies the water hitting the body and the noise entering the cabin. Just a thought

ive notice a sound like that when its raining and i thought it was water getting into my car...it was the water running from the side mirrors hitting the body of the car outside lmao...

Folks... The sound you describe is totally normal. It's the lack of sound deadning material on the rear wheel wells. Almost every review of the Mazda 3 by Car and Driver, Motortrend, Consumer reports state the same thing about road noise.

I've had the same noise in my 2007 Mz3 GT as well as my 2009 Mz3 GT.

Have Jimmy inspect your car for you if you want to have piece of mind.

glad I was able to describe it so well! wouldn't hurt to have it looked at by jimmy for your peace of mind. I've done my own checking and now I just turn the radio up louder when I notice it.

not everyone said their car did. the OP was looking for advice on what could be the source of the noise.

Some people here it while others do not.

Given that there have been lots of info provided by Mags and the Car industry I pointed this out to give the OP some more info that this might be a normal thing.

aye. but i see this a lot with other cars. and 99% of the time its because they had them oil sprayed and undercoated, and the mechanics did what any drive-thru (as i call it) shop did - they butchered and messed up.
