I wouldnt believe one word of what those kids had to say about it. regardless of what happened multiple people beat down one older guy, then they got up in his face (assault) even when he was admitting he was at fault. you never know what really happend maybe the guy "put hands on the kid" because they were running at him ready to knock his head in for spraying their car. and i never heard him say anyone was a gook.

not to mention, I'd bet that the guy has PTSD or something and has momentary lapses of judgement due to that mental disorder, not that it justifies his actions. To add to this - if he called the cops first (even though he's at fault, or whatever) you're the one taking a trip handcuffed in a back of a cruiser. Basically - whoever calls the cops first gets to charge the other person with assault. Doesn't matter who instigated it.

Without knowing the whole situation I dont think anyone could say they could act better. "put his hands on me" could mean anything from a shove to trying to choke the guy which would probably result in two different reactions. And I'm sure a lot more was said than whats shown.

Not from my experience. At a beer league hockey tournament a few years ago, my teammate got into it with the ref. When the game was over, they exchanged words. My teammate grabbed the ref's arm (not aggressively enough to start a fight) and the ref kick the sh!t out of him. He called the cops to press charges against the ref but he ended up getting arrested for making the first move.

For some reason, I take hate crimes much more seriously. The guy got what he deserved. You guys just feel bad for him cuz he's all bloodied and beat up.

The culture is different in the States. In Canada, we don't protect the victims and at times, they are the ones charged.
