so after going through a whole deal of stuff with the headlights, it's finally working (but not 100%)
the only problem now is that afs light blinks and does actually malfunction sometimes, my driver side headlight wont turn on sometimes when left in "auto" and i'd have to turn it off then back on to get it to turn on.

mazda tells me it's because a code is being thrown because of the combination of the new headlight assembly+ non oem hids and wants to put in stock ones to clear up the code and see if it works properly after that.

if in fact this is just a code that needs to be cleared...do i really need to switch to stock bulbs first to do so or can i do it as is now?
i've got no clue how the electronics in this works so your advice is much appreciated.

AFS works with a level sensor in the back and also the steering angle sensor... there's a bunch of electronics involved in controlling it

I would just do what the dealer says and let them be able to figure out what's wrong and replace any failed parts under warranty

Just started getting this problem on my car.

AFS light on the dash starts blinking and I notice the lights stop turning when I turn the steering wheel. It has now happened two days in a row now. Problem goes away when I restart my car. I just had my headlights replaced for the hazing issue, wonder if it's related or just coincidence?

take it back to the dealer

take it back to the dealer

And also consider buying some addition warranty at $1600 a pop, those headlight assemblies are the main reason I got mine..

At OP are you sayin you have a different colour hid bulb installed? Technically speaking I have never seen an aftermarket d2s cause any problems. I ran after markets on my gte and never had issues. But like others have said just put the stock bulbs back in and go back as that is probably the best thing to do for warranty

Aftermarket bulbs can cause problems for ballasts and the chrome finish on the projector bowl but i've never heard of them causing issues for the leveling systems. I would put OE bulbs back in and go see the dealer. I had both of my headlights replaced a few months ago and no issues whatsoever and they changed the bulbs for me which I provided. Some dealer shops won't touch aftermarket parts or at least want to be the ones to install them if you want them to diagnose problems after the fact.
