Hi all, engine light appeared just yesterday. I was wondering if anyone has one of those machines to find what's wrong with it. I'm near Finch and warden.

If not off to the dealership... .lol

Feel free to pm me, and thanks in advance :)

First things first. Check your gas cap.

I looked through the engine, nothings really changed. Though the Coolant seems to be a bit low. When I get home I'll check the service records. It should have been topped up recently when i went to mazada for service a few months back.

Well most parts source do it for free.

I've been getting a cel for the past few weeks but every time I go to get it checked i start the car and it's gone Doesn't show back up for a few more days and stays on for a day or two.

If you have an intake installed sometimes it goes ON then OFF....

Try reseting the battery first then when it goes ON again then get it checked

Done that. Reset the ecu and it came right back on.
Turned off about 5 min from part source and took 3 days to come back on.

Its Done that a few times. ( only reset once ) it's been off for a week now so well see.

Hahaha.

Sorry. My mistake. I figured I inadvertently highjacked his thread.

Either way it's good to tell the op what's been happening to me.

MAF wires, check all the wires.

MAF wires, check all the wires.

+1 this is most likely the problem. the MAF wires are easily stretched.

Get the CEL scanned and then we all won't have to guess. It could be anything from your gas cap to the MAF wires to and O2 sensor. You will never know what it is unless you get it scanned. Go to a Part Source that will do it for free, Jimmy at Street Performance or another mechanic.

All of this guessing/suggesting of what it "could" be is pointless until we have the CEL code.

Hello all, got my car scanned at part source, they did it for free. The code was Po441. Checked my gas cap, seems tight, no cracks, looked under the hood for any thing loose, everything seems ok.
Though my coolant fluid is a bit low, will buy some coolant and hope it goes away.

Thanks for all your help, hopefully it fixes itself..or i'll have to pay 100 bucks to get it looked at my mazda

Could be your Purge Valve. Roughly $100 I believe. Might be a warranty part as I didn't catch your mileage or year.

P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

I highly doubt it will fix itself unfortunately.

It could be 1 of many things. It could be your gas cap, it could be your purge valve solenoid, who knows. What I would do is clear the code if you haven't already, wait and see if it comes back. If ti does, then go get it checked out.

Were there any other codes? Have you had any drivability or other issues with the care since the light came on? How about starting the car after filling it up with gas? Does it start right away without any hesitation?

Try $135+, but I think it may be the same. I just replaced mine but the code was completely different. Not under warranty anymore from what I can tell (profile says 2007).

Sounds like the same part I was thinking of.
Assuming no vacuum leaks, the gas cap is on properly and you have driven a little bit since you have tightened your gas cap, that's where I would direct my attention

Hello again, thanks for the suggestions.
The guy at part source already reset the cel, sadly it just came back. My car starts up just fine, the only thing i notice is the car seems a bit underpowered, but then it could just be cold :P Are there any other symptons? or do i have to take it in regardless, i think the mazda rep said 90 dollars just for the check up.

I tigten my gas cap all the time, till it clicks.

I don't see any loose wires in the engine bay, but then again I'm not sure what i'm looking for.
As for a fill up, i did that on Saturday, cel was still on.
My car is out of warranty sadly. It's a 2007 gt(bought dec 7, 2007), however the millage is only 53k..sigh :P But I also found that they didn't do alot of the work during check ups.. Ie i can't believe my coolant is under the min marker, I was only at mazda(agincourt) in Nov, for the winter package.

The code says it all, it's the Purge Solenoid valve. Had the same code and fix twice under warranty.

Thank God I saw this thread. I didn't know that Part Source would allow the use of a Code Reader for free. Awesome, becuase my CEL came on today.

I think all of the '07s are starting to have trouble right about now. :(

Just left Part Source. The code that came up was U0100: Lost communication with ECM / PCMA.
I just got an alarm / starter combo installed within the last few days.

Could this be related?

Did you watch them scan the code? I'm just wondering if they hooked up the scanner after the ignition was already turned on, etc? Did they try to scan it more than once?

I think that it definitely could be a wiring problem related to the alarm/starter as that's all I can find on the subject of that code. I would take it back to the installer and see what they say.

Well they always say that cars start to show their wear around 100,000 kms or the 5 year mark.

Yup, I watched her check the codes. The car was already on when she checked it 2x. She was able to clear the code; so far it hasn't turned back on.

go back to who ever installed your remote start/alarm because most likely they wired something wrong
